I have been working at Sabre full-time

    Pros

    A job with a paycheck.

    Cons

Lacking leadership. Old world management styles, which include old system and promoting educated dumbos just because of titles over promoting people who are actually capable of doing the job well. Do not care about employees. Many leaders know about their piece of the pie but they don't know the recipe for the pie as a whole and really don't care. Old way of management from the top does not work in the work world today...

    Advice to Management

Change your old, outdated ways. Don't be afraid to think outside the box and realize you may have golden nuggets in your midst, if you'd just grow a little and realize that not everyone has to look like you think they need to look on paper and background to be an awesome asset, because it is clear that many of those that you think do, aren't. Don't be afraid to let people know their worth. It creates the most loyal, hard-working...

I have been working at Sabre full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    great people to work with

    Cons

constant fear of lay offs. long working hours between few time zones. Conference calls at crazy 6:00am to 11:00pm due to offices located in India and Asia. Work from home used to be a norm but it is not anymore. The employment is uncertain, people are tired of constant organizational changes, new business models and new upper management that make more that some departments. People really don't like their CEO and have...

    Advice to Management

you can only go for so long with "we are on the same boat" speeches. Lead by example. This company used to have great corporate culture but it is all gone today.

I have been working at Sabre full-time

    Pros

Opportunity to work remote, work with people of different seniorities, promotions from within

    Cons

High turnover makes one question the quality of leadership. I have not seen many opportunities for career growth -- learning opportunities seem to plateau.

    I worked at Sabre full-time

    Pros

Great culture and lots of employee activities. Very big on green initiatives. The cafeteria has excellent and healthy options and all taste great. Everyone has laptops and they are very flexible with work from home options. On site health clinic is very convenient.

    Cons

There are way too many VP's, SVP's and EVP's in the company, however leadership and morale have been poor since this past summer's layoffs.

    Advice to Management

Trim at the executive levels to save money. Also, schedule less meetings and have more dialogue via e-mail or chats. On any given day, executives can be in meetings for all 8 hours, when most discussion can be done in e-mail, and no actual work gets done.

I have been working at Sabre full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Very good industry standing and highly efficient business model - very well set up for future.

    Cons

Challenges with senior and mid-level leadership causing challenges in various walks of the business.

    Advice to Management

Need to shed away nepotism and favorism , take some risks and shift from thinkers to doers and encourage young talent. Also need to engage remote offices.

I worked at Sabre full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Those in the same position are supportive and willing to help. Good benefits and 401k match.

    Cons

You never know when the next round of layoffs will be.

    Advice to Management

There doesn't seem to be much logic or clarity around those effected by the constant layoffs. Successful people are let go, then that same position is posted for hire a month later.
