I worked at Sabre full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good people, many with tons of experience; very interesting industry with fun and challenging problems to solve; fair work-life balance in many jobs

    Cons

Senior management turnover with so many people unfamiliar to industry causing great churn and confusion; processes preventing grass-roots innovation

    Advice to Management

Spend some focus on culture and stabilizing morale because turning over the top 3 layers of management while letting experienced personnel go was very disruptive and counter-productive in the short term

    Pros

Exciting industry with good growth potential. Very flexible schedule and work opportunities. Good people to work with. Good internal support.

    Cons

Challenges with leadership, lot's of turn over at executive level. Not clear on direction - travel company or technology/software engineering company.

I have been working at Sabre full-time

    Pros

There are great people in the company

    Cons

No live-work balance. People are just resource. Every day and weekend there work overtime due to massive layoffs and very aggressive business plan

    Advice to Management

If you keep thinking about people as a resources only you will loose

I have been working at Sabre full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    People who prefer family atmosphere
Domain which is interesting and demanding
Real problems of real users and real business
    Challenges

    Cons

As in other big companies you may meet people you are not compatible with. In some projects you may need to push harder to challenge status quo.

    Advice to Management

Show more trust in capability of the staff and be more dynamic with decision and risk taking.

I worked at Sabre full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The work is challenging but rewarding.

    Cons

Communication between upper management and front-line employees was inconsistent. employees expected to monitor and respond to emails and voicemail 24/7. Personal time off was not 100% free from work responsibilities.

I have been working at Sabre full-time

    Pros

    - Flexible hours, no strict policies on in office all the time.
    - Employee-friendly environment

    Cons

    - Too many contractors instead of full-time employees.
    - (A bit personal opinion) Presence only in Bangalore. It would be good to have the presence in other locations like Mumbai or Pune as well. Bangalore is getting uninhabitable now with all the growing pollution, traffic, overly expensive education, and other poor quality of services in day to day life.

    Advice to Management

    - Need to review the policy of contractors v/s employees.
    - Need to review the policy on managing headcounts. Because with recent layoffs along with almost same amount of hiring, it looks like Sabre is a bit strangled with the strategy on managing people in the company.
    - Need to be more strong, firm and far-sighted on new projects, innovations and sustaining growth.
    - Retain "good" employees with attracting monetary benefits/appraisals because at the end of day, it all comes down to making money. Everybody, including the company, is on the run essentially to make money while catering the market needs.

I have been working at Sabre full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Decent pay
Flexibility to work from home when appropriate
    Recognize and reward initiative
    Evolving company

    Cons

Change is coming slowly since going public
    People managers need continued training
    Travel policy

    Advice to Management

Teach people managers how to continue to reinforce company vision because the message gets diluted as it flows down the ranks
