I have been working at Safeguard Business Systems part-time

    Pros

Many opportunities for motivated people. Great network of professionals to learn from and collaborate with. There are a lot of ways to learn more about the industry and initiative is appreciated.

    Cons

Not really any downsides that I can think of, although I wish I had the opportunity to be a full time employee (with benefits would be nice) after years of being a part timer.

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid to look 'down the ladder' for innovation and great ways to get the job done.

I worked at Safeguard Business Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Competitive compensation and decent benefits. Flex time and remote work opportunities. Building being remodeled with very nice gym and cafe.

    Cons

Complete lack of effective management. No progressive thinking and completely behind the times. Easy to become stagnant, and very little room for growth. Poor job training with little to no structure. Hostile work environment in some areas, with highly negative atmosphere. Reported hostile work environment with repetitive racial jokes and slurs, but nothing done to disrespectful employees with tenure. Company performed very poorly (financially) in 2016.

    Advice to Management

Embrace a progressive way of thinking. Remove negative employees and take employee reporting seriously to avoid position turnover and lawsuits.

I worked at Safeguard Business Systems full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, PTO, Earn monthly commission.

    Cons

Time efficiency for orders to be placed, robotic service to customers, high intense of stress to meet certain requirements.

    Advice to Management

Every person is not a robot and does work with feelings. Take heed to your employees as they are the ones to play a major part within the business to keep a float.

I worked at Safeguard Business Systems full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Casual dress code, hours, people. Some of the people are there for 25+ years.

    Cons

Poor management, way behind from current technology. PTO system is absolutely horrible. Since they have some legacy employees for 25+ years, they get to pick their vaca days & new employees aren't allowed to take those days off.

    Advice to Management

Change your PTO policy. Get up to date with current technology. Hire managers based on skill.

I have been working at Safeguard Business Systems full-time

    Pros

REAL casual (see cons), casual dress, some schedule flexibility.

    Cons

Where to start. I believe it falls in three categories:

    1. Dying business model - can't be argued. Acquiring additional (albeit slowly) dying franchises and calling it "growth" is a fallacy. Ring the death toll.

    2. Technology & Business Systems - atrocious. This business is operating with back and front end infrastructure from the early 90's, including no CRM whatsoever. Good luck future Account Managers, I'm sayin a little prayer for you. Mgmt response when logging said complaints - "it's coming! Open the phone book!" The phone book lolll.

    3. Management of course. There seems to be a blind allegiance to the fruitful past of this business, which is not at all helpful to any new employee trying to break in and find success. Delusion, pride and ego are the primary drivers at play here. Most of these people have been doing this for 30+ years, and they are at a point where real chage is....not going to happen.

    Advice to Management

Implement REAL training for new employees. Not long winded brainwashing sessions trying to blind us from the past and isolating us from the currently successful sales people because you don't like them. I felt like I was peeling back a massive onion starting day one in an attempt to try and learn the ACTUAL realities of the business model.

    Pros

Great training and sales tools as well as a very good commission structure.

    Cons

    Straight commission, sink or swim.
