I worked at Safeguard Business Systems full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Casual dress code, hours, people. Some of the people are there for 25+ years.

    Cons

Poor management, way behind from current technology. PTO system is absolutely horrible. Since they have some legacy employees for 25+ years, they get to pick their vaca days & new employees aren't allowed to take those days off.

    Advice to Management

Change your PTO policy. Get up to date with current technology. Hire managers based on skill.

I have been working at Safeguard Business Systems full-time

    Pros

REAL casual (see cons), casual dress, some schedule flexibility.

    Cons

Where to start. I believe it falls in three categories:

    1. Dying business model - can't be argued. Acquiring additional (albeit slowly) dying franchises and calling it "growth" is a fallacy. Ring the death toll.

    2. Technology & Business Systems - atrocious. This business is operating with back and front end infrastructure from the early 90's, including no CRM whatsoever. Good luck future Account Managers, I'm sayin a little prayer for you. Mgmt response when logging said complaints - "it's coming! Open the phone book!" The phone book lolll.

    3. Management of course. There seems to be a blind allegiance to the fruitful past of this business, which is not at all helpful to any new employee trying to break in and find success. Delusion, pride and ego are the primary drivers at play here. Most of these people have been doing this for 30+ years, and they are at a point where real chage is....not going to happen.

    Advice to Management

Implement REAL training for new employees. Not long winded brainwashing sessions trying to blind us from the past and isolating us from the currently successful sales people because you don't like them. I felt like I was peeling back a massive onion starting day one in an attempt to try and learn the ACTUAL realities of the business model.

    Pros

Great training and sales tools as well as a very good commission structure.

    Cons

    Straight commission, sink or swim.

    Pros

Casual dress-code, close to public transportation (regional rail)

    Cons

Inept management who attempt to shift blame to other departments out of laziness. Antiquated data management systems. Nosy and noisy work environment.

    Advice to Management

Hire supervisors with actual managerial training instead of just promoting from within. Devise an ACTUAL TRAINING PROGRAM WITH POLICIES AND PROCEDURES because soon your knowledge base will retire with your ancient staff!

I worked at Safeguard Business Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Benefits are amazing
    Pay was ok

    Cons

Lack of appreciation for the employees
    Training could be improved
Computer systems run slow & crash at times.

    Advice to Management

Stop talking shut about each other... Employees can pick up on that and lose respect for the supervisors. Stop playing favorites this is not Elementary so stop acting like children!

    Pros

The office has a casual atmosphere. Benefits are good. Multiple shifts are available. The company continues to do well, providing job security.

    Cons

Pay for entry level positions tends to be at or below average. There is little room for advancement, unless you are willing to move into sales or possess experience, other than customer service.

    Pros

The employees are nice, but other than that not really anything.

    Cons

Having to do anything you can to not shoulder blame for mistakes, company doesn't back employees up regardless of customer ridiculousness. Not paid enough for knowledge and responsibilities required to work position.

    Advice to Management

Upgrade your technology, losing access to emails and network drives almost every other day is inexcusable.
