    Pros

Safety-Kleen was a good place to work with lots of opportunity, but unfortunately the Clean Harbors acquisition has ruined the company.

    Cons

Safety-Kleen was a good place to work with lots of opportunity, but unfortunately the Clean Harbors acquisition has ruined the company. Layoffs continue for both sides of the company. Unfortunately, nothing will change until the Clean Harbors CEO has been replaced with someone more positive.

    Advice to Management

Stop tearing down the profitable company you acquired.

    I worked at Safety-Kleen full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Collection group is friendly and helpful

    Cons

Since purchased by Clean Harbor morale is down and all of the managers and supervisors in the collection department has either resigned or been layed off. Clean Harbor's system is antiquated and they insist on quantity instead of quality. DSO has increased to 55 days from 45 days.

    Advice to Management

Let the collection department due their jobs the way they need to and not as a call center

    Pros

This is a good company for opportunities in the field (branches and facilities). Very experienced employees who care about their jobs and customers. The culture is very rich in taking care of each other to get the job done.

    Cons

Some employees do not embrace technology the way they should. This can lead to lost time and error prone situations.

    Advice to Management

    Put more emphasis on technology

    I worked at Safety-Kleen full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Overtime, because, they make you work two full time positions, threatening you with your job, while upper management gets raises, for saving money.

    Cons

Upper management, gets paid, to keep their job, by making changes, take away locals jobs, and move in people from other towns! Drive people to quit, or fire those that refuse to. Give local jobs, to outsiders, regardless, of economy. Cover their butt by favoring ONE local, to avoid Discrimination, and Harassment.

    Advice to Management

Consider hard work, sacrificd, and small town economics! Jobs appreciated! Refused to hire african americans! Consider, who and what your Managers do, including, destroying families, finances. Management, doesn't care. Doesn't truly understand sacrifice. Willing to favor those who put others in danger. Not the guy who gets it done, with his sweat!

    I worked at Safety-Kleen full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Solid experience gained from working within the manufacturing industry, but beyond that everything else is VERY poor.

    Cons

In short, DO NOT take a job with this company unless you are desperate for employment or are trying to gain sales experience in order to move to a better organization. This company only has success because of the lack of competition in the space in which it competes.

    - Shortsighted Management
    - Under-Educated Management (Serious Absence of Business Acumen)
    - Questionable Ethics by Management At All Levels (Lying, Empty Promises, Lack of Integrity)
    - Culture of Micromanagement (GPS Tracking in Vehicles, Scorecard Metric Focus)
    - Ever Changing Compensation Plans (No Continuity in Compensation)

I worked at Safety-Kleen (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great people, compensation decent, and lots of flexibility on how you manage the facility

    Cons

Constant corporate initiatives jammed down your throat, expected to train employees on everything, and sign off on it. Very unrealistic considering the extremely high pace environment, time does not drag in fact it moves to fast. Branch constantly under staffed putting Manager in precarious positions to achieve budgets and maintain the ethical standards that they portray to have.

    Advice to Management

Less VP'S really how about people that can actually visit a branch and help i.e. run a route, order paperwork, use a handheld, is licensed, etc. you get the point.
