    Pros

Interesting work. You won't get rich, but you can make above average money if you are in sales or branch management.

    Cons

Kept switching district managers and upper management. Last one was awful. Had an MBA, yet no business sense and no engagement with any employees. As with most of the other managers, they were an overpaid and over titled information mover. I did have a few more engaged managers, but the good ones for shuffled out of area. Most spent too much time trying to impress upper managers with ability to gather information. Most of the longer term lower level people were very valuable resources and performed well.

    Advice to Management

Stop putting value in people who don't know the business. Stop reinventing goals, payplans, management, etc every six months. It's a sign of desperation. I got out right before Clean Harbors took over...I have heard it has been awful since, including some mandatory weekend work required for people who do not make enough money to be worth it.

    Pros

Decent opportunities to increase your pay, based on how much work you put in. If you inherit a solid territory the pay potential can hit six figures

    Cons

Micromanagement. Many levels of management to report to and they all feel entitled to disrupting your schedule to give them information.

    I worked at Safety-Kleen full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Middle management was mostly great. Laid back work environment most of the time.

    Cons

Clean Harbors managing from a distance is terrible. The systems have taken a step back in time and nothing "talks" to each other any more. When you have a micro-manager for a CEO (i.e. has to approve every hiring decision from the top down to customer service reps) your business can only get as big as that one person can conceive...

    Advice to Management

Listen to and trust the people on the ground.

    Pros

Great people, good pay, every day is a new challenge

    Cons

Still integrating under the Clean Harbors umbrella, a lot of systems and protocols don't talk well with each other, constant change, tired fleet, everyone is a Senior Vice President, multiple monthly metrics

    Advice to Management

You're losing a lot of good people, maybe it's time to look in a mirror.

    Pros

Good people at branch. Some managers are good others don't know what is going on

    Cons

With the buy out you are a number and it doesn't matter what you do in the past it is what have you done for us today.

    Advice to Management

Keep the good employees happy and busy. Don't push, push, push, for the almighty dollar every day

    Pros

The customers. Also the ability to manage your own route and get away from the less than mediocre management.

    Cons

Management always ready to sell you out. Hard work always overlooked and unappreciated. Come in with big numbers and they ask why you didn't do more. Never a thank you. Management has a motto "I don't care how you get it (revenue), just get it"... meaning, screw your customer, just being in big money.

    Advice to Management

Go to bat for your employees. Don't just roll over, fight for the ones that keep your company rolling. A simple "thank you" goes a long way... say it more often!

Either pay for overtime or make the ssr position hourly.
