Management Does Not Care About Employees

      Pros

Flexible hours, decent benefits (no dental), and a fun Christmas party.

      Cons

Management does not care about you as a person, you HAD to take vacation in week long chunks, couldn't take time off during black out periods, store management had unrealistic expectations for department staff, store management continually cut hours for high volume departments which put stress on staff, it's union so unreliable workers were kept, just overall not a fun place to work.

      Pros

Very flexible hours, they told you exactly what they wanted, good pay (above minimum wage), you only had to work holidays if you wanted and you got a good bonus.

      Cons

The work is very meticulous, they have secret shoppers and will talk to you if you don't do perfect, at nights they are often understaffed and when you get slammed it's never fun.

      An A- Company.

      Pros

Good working environment, flexible hours, relative high salary. If you are a full time employee of Safeway, you will not be rejected of working in one place just because the manager doesn't like you personally. Safeway's salary as compared to other similar retail pharmacy chains including Shopper's Drug Mart, London Drugs, Wal-Mart, Superstore, etc. is higher. Also Safeway is located throughout America so people who worked in Canada may have a chance to transfer to American chains to benefit from lower income tax.

      Cons

Not very great chances for promotion and difficult to get in in the first place. If you want to work overtime and get 1.5x payment, you would probably have to work in some remote areas where it is difficult to staff.
