    Managment is horrid and they dont appeciate the good workers

    Give the people who are inspired to step up fast and want to be in managment i think and pay a little better would be i love working here but hate i can barley keep diapers and gas in my car thats how bad my checks are. Other then that i love safeway

    Pros

    The team at the Safeway corporate headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona are the best to work with. They are friendly, helpful, and kind.

    Cons

    The walk from the South building to the café and back can take up most of your lunch half-hour.

    I worked at Safeway part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Coworkers are like a family. Very rarely did I have any issue with anyone I worked with. Schedules can be flexible when needed. The benefits were great when I was there.

    Cons

    It is still a retail job. You will run into nasty customers. I had a good experience with management but I can imagine this was not true for everyone.

    Advice to Management

    Continue to provide benefits for your employees. When someone is treated well they work well. On that note pay grades could be more competitive.

    Benefits, Pension, Insurance, Nice Campus

    Cons

    After Buyout no one was considered on their merits. You were either "IN" or OUT. Upper Management played favorites, without regard to one's abilty.

    Never discount dedicated employees because you don't care for them.

    Ability to grow and learn if your are a new or inexperienced management professional. Great benefits with a big company.

    Cons

    Hours are long and you are likely to work weekend and holidays as you are in the retail business. Be ready to work.
