    Pros

Great group of employees that could do great things.

    Cons

Terrible management structure that stifles employees. No understanding of eyewear business and an unwillingness to learn, change, and grow. Cost cutting to the bone is their idea of management.

    Advice to Management

    Quit.

    I worked at Safilo full-time

    Pros

Working with multiple brands was great experience wise. There are some great people.

    Cons

The place was a mess. People resigned left and right. No one knew what was going on. There is no room for growth within the company. A lot of favoritism.

I worked at Safilo (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Health insurance. Some nice people. New offices.

    Cons

When i came aboard in 2014 there were promises of new change/modernization coming a company moving into the modern age and centralizing efforts. After a year I realized that this was far from the truth. Morale here is the lowest of any place I have ever worked! People are so overworked that they only do only their part of their role and aren't eager to help create change since efforts aren't appreciated or rewarded. Due to this the turnover is horrifyingly high and knowledge is constantly lost. Longer term employees are despondent as they have seen their once wonderful work environment fall apart.

Top management are all new and give off the distinct feeling that you don't matter. Forget that they don't they not say hello in the offices but act in ways to employees that border on abusive. Yelling and insulting are commonplace along with their unrealistic exceptions and lack of interest of your opinions. If concerns are raised or options that don't go along with company lines you are embarrassingly put down. HR is not an option to go to since the C level executives are the ones exhibiting this behavior.

The company is rapidly losing market share, don't have a long term strategy as they are not forward thinking and the internal systems are a mess since they are not investing in technology.

Like many people who started there I assumed the person before me was inept, after a year I realized that it was the company not my predecessor. My expertise in my area, long hours at work, relationship building or research wasn't going to make my area better as you are set up to fail.

    Advice to Management

Invest in technology and don't treat people like they are disposable. Take a look at how your top leadership treats people since there is a trickle down effect. People aren't afraid to work hard but when they are put down constantly you will stifle their passion and you won't keep people who create positive change.

I have been working at Safilo full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Health Benefits, increase set for 2017, copay and premium double in cost. Reducing life insurance for everyone except senior mgmt.

    Cons

Corporate restructuring 20/20 transformation in progress since 2014. Senior executives CFO, COO, resigned and joined competition. Other long tome employees leaving to do same. Performance appraisal raises set up to give bonus and raises to top 10% of employees. No incentives for 80% loyal hard working staff. Morale low, demotivating.

    Advice to Management

Talk less, listen more, less meetings and follow your own PVPC culture. It starts at the top, set the example because action speaks volumes. It's not always METRICS & KPI'S, the people are your most valued assets, treat them as such. Lead by example, i.e. Eyewear company should provide one free frame per year from core collection as a benefit.

I worked at Safilo (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Very fast paced and challenging, you never get bored
    - Great learning experience, you are faced with new situations and tasks on a regular basis
    - Good career opportunities
    - Some really great people work there, both on a professional and personal level
    - Beautiful products and brands
    - Plans to upgrade design, manufacturing and supply chain are great - hopefully they will be implemented

    Cons

    - The new CEO and top management talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk. I was in a position to see what the very top management was doing in terms of people management and I can say they had no respect for anyone, even very senior people who had worked for the company for 20+ years. The talk about making Saflo a great place to work just that, talk.
    - Huge TRUST issue within the company
    - Disorganization is the n.1 reason why people can't get their job done
    - HQ are blind when it comes to understanding cultural and market differences across the world and they do not listen to local markets
    - IT systems are outdated (though SAP is being implemented)
    - Many great professionals leave their roles there because it's such a struggle to get anything done. You feel like you have to constantly fight within the company to get the job done.
    - Directions from HQ are often incomplete, contradictory and sometimes straight-out counterproductive
    - Product supply is a huge problem for small markets
    - Poor work/life balance

    Advice to Management

Genuinely turn attention to the employees and respect their hard work.
Show that you TRUST your employees and listen to what they have to say - they are on the field and can provide precious knowledge to help the company overall.

I worked at Safilo full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people in Safilo US HQ are very nice and hard working (for the most part). Safilo is highly regarded within the industry in the US.

    Cons

People are not a priority and the US team is not respected by the Global HQ in Italy, despite the fact the results have been good. There is no training or guidance, so it's a bit of a sink or swim environment. People are leaving frequently, and not being replaced due to a hiring freeze, creating more work for those remaining. Overall, not a good place for a stable career.

    Advice to Management

Have some regard for people (not just the senior leaders), as you can't run the business without them. Get to know the US team to realize their potential, instead of just transplanting people from Italy to fill roles. Recognize that because something works in Italy, it doesn't mean it works in the US. Instead of investing in big jobs at the top, replace some of the jobs that manage the business on a day-to-day basis, as some of the teams are skeletal.

    Pros

The benefits are good, vision, dental, health, 401k and more. Mostly nice people, but all it takes is one BAD APPLE.

    Cons

Horrible place to work. No support from upper management, HR department is a joke. Marketing department a complete mess. Employees being laid-off and let go all over the place. Company going through major change. They keep hiring upper management, need actual workers. If you are a BULLY you will go far here. Upper management will LOVE you!

    Advice to Management

Listen to the REAL workers in the company. The ones you are protecting can talk the talk, but DO NOT walk the walk.
