    Pros

Used to have an appreciation of their staff but over the last few years has changed. Too short period of time to make enormous changes.

    Cons

Management has changed and has now made it a very uncomfortable environment. Salary and bonus based on very rigid evaluation system.

I have been working at Safilo (More than a year)

    Pros

Working in the Eyewear industry is exciting if you are in a senior Sales role. The retailers are becoming more agile like the FMCG industry. Margins are great throughout the value chain.

    Cons

Working with licenses is difficult from a long term strategic perspective. Building one brand to loose it the next. Safilo is going through major changes implementing SAP. Safilo also lost the biggest license brand Gucci in 2017.

    Advice to Management

Start investing in Proprietary brands Polaroid and Carrera through marketing to increase sales and balance the mix in the portfolio. A huge investment will be needed to establish the brands as iconic.

I worked at Safilo full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Great ground people to work with
    - Linear company structure provided opportunities to self-learned and become more all-rounded

    Cons

    - Extremely poor HR which lack basic HR skill sets and people management experience, e.g. very limited and incorrectly mapped training, no local adaptation in terms of policies, allowing certain management to hire "friends" who are not qualified for the work; which directly/ indirectly damage the company's culture which used to be more favorable. Honestly worst / least professional HR to be demonstrated in the market.
    - Weak management whom focus on politics rather than real business related matters e.g. delivery performances, retaining talents, process enhancement (which are useful and managed by people whom really KNOW the matters)

    Advice to Management

    - Please find way to increase the morale before further destroying the company

    Pros

Environment is always stimulating, products are exceptionals, and company is becoming always more international with good new people hired, everybody with good approach.
    Big challenges and innovation running.
Discount to buy sunglasses and frame (nice benefits) and health insurance.

    Cons

Too many projects running, workload is high due to big transformation.

    Advice to Management

Reduce number of projects and keep time to take benefits of changes

I worked at Safilo full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

From my perspective, there are none. I was an employee for over 15 years and after the new CEO took office, I watched a company that I and my fellow employees loved working for, who was highly respected in the industry, had employees with experience and dedication, deteriorate into this sad image of what it once was. So many senior members of the staff left the company going to competitors and other opportunities, not because they wanted to, but because they were literally forced out by a CEO who wanted to run the company they way she saw fit, not in a way that made any business sense or brought value to the organization.

    Cons

For anyone thinking about joining Safilo, I would look into the following and ensure you get answers to the following:
    1. Ask why all previous members of senior management have left, and do not accept an answer like "they couldn't accept change"
    2. Ask to see the details of the employee survey specifically the us results. HR will try to hide these
    3. Ask why employees have commented on this site that HR writes their own positive comments. (Damage Control)
    4. Talk to some existing employees outside of HR and get their opinion
    5. Find out the number of employees that have left in the last 24 months. Ask what the headcount was in 2013 vs today in the Parsippany location
    6. Ask why all initiatives by the CEO have done nothing to increase profitability
    7. Ask how many top licenses the company has lost
    8. Ask how many key positions today are filled by US employees vs employees from Italy.
    9. Ask why employees coming from Italy receive perks such as travel expenses for them and their families, a car, a generous living allowance, a residence, and salaries much higher than US employees. Don't let HR state this is untrue. It can be verified if you know where to look. This company is NOT about diversity and inclusion. It's about being Italian and being excluded!
    10. Ask why employees reviews are changed to follow a bell curve. Ask what raises average and what percentage of employees receive raises. Get specific goals and objectives in writing. Don't get fooled. Give details
    11. Ask why employees cannot get the frame of their choice, and are stuck just choosing "house brands"
    12. Ask why the organizations priorities constantly change
    13. Ask about development training for employees. Outside seminars, etc.
    14. Find out about career progression if any. They will tell you about opportunities but the only way you will get them is if there is a) no one from Italy to fill it, b) you have a low salary, or c) you are handed it in addition to your current responsibilities, oh and without extra pay!
    15. Ask why the stock price has decreased over the CEOs tenure.

Overall my advice is to do your due diligence and not get fooled by the incompetent HR group. If you want to be successful, have management that is interested in your development and progression, and of course make a higher salary year after year based upon a fair evaluation of your performance and contributions, go elsewhere. Join Safilo and you will either be somewhere, or you will be one of those employees that just stays and exists year after year with zero satisfaction.

    Advice to Management

Management has seen these reviews both here on Glassdoor and through their so called employee engagement survey. Problem is that they just do not care what anyone has to say. Nothing will change to benefit the employees who make this company go. Do yourself a favor and research and ask the right questions, talk to someone in the company or who has left. Don't get fooled.

I have been working at Safilo full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Health Benefits, increase set for 2017, copay and premium double in cost. Reducing life insurance for everyone except senior mgmt.

    Cons

Corporate restructuring 20/20 transformation in progress since 2014. Senior executives CFO, COO, resigned and joined competition. Other long tome employees leaving to do same. Performance appraisal raises set up to give bonus and raises to top 10% of employees. No incentives for 80% loyal hard working staff. Morale low, demotivating.

    Advice to Management

Talk less, listen more, less meetings and follow your own PVPC culture. It starts at the top, set the example because action speaks volumes. It's not always METRICS & KPI'S, the people are your most valued assets, treat them as such. Lead by example, i.e. Eyewear company should provide one free frame per year from core collection as a benefit.

    Pros

the quality of the product is best in class

    Cons

No clear managerial structure, a passive agressive boss (at the verge of bullying), no integrated systems (not on SAP), huge overstock, relations with the Fashion houses is problemtic, no employee engagement, no induction program for new employees, heavy reliance on short tem internships, no clear rolls, department A does not know what department B is doing, horrible office location, misty salary structure (my peers got a car -for me this was impossible, oldfashionned hardware (still works with old and basic Blackberry)

    Advice to Management

maybe it would be better to pull the plug, sell the assets that have value (the production facilities) and bury the corps.

Nothing Special only nothing to staffs

    Cons

Poor office management, Strongly Not Recommended young account people work here,
No good guidance, very selfish Manager only keep knowledge themselves,
No Friendly Staffs. Very Poor Management. High Turnover Rate. Many people come and go.
Heard news now those Manager still very lazy, still not responsible,
most jobs handle by down lines, these so called Managerial title people always do nothing.
After that, I'd heard many many different customers said, weird incidents happened in sales events days. They will recruit outsiders to bully and put tough pressures to staffs on sales day.
