I worked at Sagem full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Health care
    Retirement Matching
    Stock Matching
Vacation (if you can use it)

    Cons

Health care is getting closer and closer to the norm every year.
Not much ability to move up or around in the company due to small size.
    Next to Trader's Village.

    Advice to Management

Past adjustments seem to be working out well.

I have been working at Sagem (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pros about working here? Nice weather and good restaurants. Good shopping mall nearby. Close to the beach and john wayne airport.

    Cons

Supply chain is managed offsite, people are not held accountable, lack of structure, lack of any real business processes, people don't know their place and anyone can just walk in and do whatever he or she wants, lack of unity. and gossip gossip gossip and the sad thing is that top management lives and breathes gossip.

The people who are close to retirement are on cruise control until they retire. People who cant find a job anywhere else have worked here for years and wont leave. People who care about their careers and actually want to make a change are left deserted on an island. People who care end up leaving this place. Its sad because this place has so much potential and can benefit so much from being a part of the Safran group if it was only managed correctly. Also note that the site does not have a site manager so go figure.

    Advice to Management

Need business processes, clarify roles and responsibilities, accountability, on time delivery internal and to the customer, don't make promises to the employees and or departments that you cannot keep. Regroup, clean up, create structure and build this place into what it deserves to be.

    Pros

The management treated me with fairness and respect. Plenty of training opportunities

    Cons

Projects are typically long term in nature, therefore the management environment can change and create a bit of havoc for existing projects.

I worked at Sagem full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Working for Sagem had the best vacation time off and sick time policy that made it very easy to have personal time off after working very hard and dedicated to the company. Training and keeping us well informed in the aviation community also was a plus.

    Cons

Promotions and migrating to another department is more difficult due to company staffing and specialization. Once a certain skilled level is achieved the company prefers to keep you in that department.

    Advice to Management

Upper management should help the technicians by giving them the opportunity to apply for that position.

I have been working at Sagem full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great products, good customer relations, many good people within the organization devoted to company and quality products. Good benefits and employee bonus structure. The French have a good sense of people and personal life (better than some USA companies).

    Cons

Top management (local) too dependant on single individual opinion for general company operations. Not enough local autonomy. Dictates made from parent company limit local company inovation.

    Advice to Management

CEO think for yourself, not direction of old VP mindset. (Appreciate the CEOs desire to uplift and promote employee goodwill through many social activities.)

I worked at Sagem full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pros – Vacation and Healthcare are exceptional. Salary lower than one might expect. They have domestic partner benefits for the GL community. Long hours expected from executives that often arrive late, and most executives go home first out the door.

    Cons

Cons – no possibility to move forward at corporate for the French, no quality training, management exemplifies partiality to those that speak French. They constantly make obvious errors, and blame non French speakers. Often do not return phone calls, do not return emails to team members, or others, and do not share important information to staff members. They often document all mistakes to the wrong person, and credit themselves for the hard work of others.

    Advice to Management

Advice to Executive Management – Consider paying for quality training, NOT in-house Safran University courses, and accept blame for your own errors in both judgement and experience. This is mainly due to lack of knowledge on business practices. Oh, and treat everyone with respect.

    Pros

Overall positive enviroment, research and development all encompassing and the leadership had outward projections of common, mutual respect for wholesome promotion through challenges.

    Cons

High expections and performance requirments were not fostered through proper channels which exsisted, yet the same channels from management carried retrobutions not warranted for hard work ethic and attitudes towards corrective actions regarding mistakes and non-compliant or lack of support issues at operations level.

    Advice to Management

Encompass inner work group and whole section input and offer conflict resolution as a nuetral ground rather a firing squad as it was during my intense and most enjoyable time there as one emplyee of three in logistics doing six jobs at any given time, with expediency and efficiently.

    Pros

Great talented team, healthy working environment, annual bonuses and working schedule. Overall it is good company to work in. Nice (mostly) people, good culture.

    Cons

French people are welcome but others are not. You can be talented professional but you will get fired if any of managers do not like you. All your talents and experience worthless if you happen to peace off the boss
