I worked at Sailthru for more than a year

    Pros

High energy atmosphere with smart people and a sense of optimism. Leaders did a good job of motivating via team outings, video calls, etc. Excellent transparency into company financials and planning. Unlimited vacation.

    Cons

Significant senior leadership turnover. High (some might say unrealistic) revenue goals. Competes in a very competitive space with larger corporations. Marketing is not sufficient, but is improving.

    Advice to Management

In a very competitive marketplace Sailthru should look to be acquired. Management needs to better recognize contributions for remote staff.

I worked at Sailthru full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I am a "glass half full" kind of person. But I can only think of one reason to work here: you are 22-25, work in the NYC office, and care more about having beer in the fridge than proprietary tech, supportive management or career growth.

    Cons

when you read the positive reviews (all anonymous, in no specific division) ask yourself who may be really posting. Not only have these ppl not learned about the detrimental arrogance of execs during the dot com bust, but they revel in their cronyism. Far too many internal processes that never allow you to even do your job. I am not a bitter employee. Just want to warn others to stay far away. Make sure you research how...

    Advice to Management

wake up! Get rid of that management layer who are strictly administrators and add nothing to their team. You are not ExactTarget or SAP or Responsys. the arrogance of those in sales/sales ops is truly unbelievable. And HR should check into why so many folks are leaving. If you will blame it all on the employees and that they weren't a right fit, then at least take ownership of your own poor hiring.

I have been working at Sailthru full-time

    Pros

I’ve read a lot of reviews on here and I am glad those toxic people don’t work here any more. They were a problem, and an obstacle to change and growth. As they evolve in their careers, I’m sure they’ll get many more opportunities for a wake-up call to the true nature of team-based collaborative work, especially for start-ups or early stage companies. They will be presented with more chances to realize that technical...

The challenges I see at Sailthru don’t strike me as materially larger or uniquely different to those I’ve seen at companies in the 10-20 person range, 100-200 person range, 1000-2000 range, or 10,000 to 20,000 range. If you think organizational challenges, or some folks not feeling fully engaged, or seeing some performance issues, are somehow a unique Sailthru thing that justifies a public rambling rant, then please don’t...

I have been working at Sailthru

    Pros

Smart, Smart People. I've learned more at Sailthru than any other company because of the people I work with. Our product is also really good and ahead of the market. I believe strongly that we're investing resources correctly now to be successful. Work/life balance. There's a lot to do and you will work long hours, but the founders strongly believe in work/life balance and give you the freedom to have a life outside...

    Cons

Still have some growing pains. When you bring in a new CEO, change is inevitable. This made a lot of people uncomfortable and had a ripple effect across the org. I feel strongly that we are now on the right course. We have smart executives leading the team and we're proactively focused on initiatives that matter now.

    Advice to Management

Move fast and continue to invest in culture. The market is crowded and we need to move faster than our competition. We won't be successful though if don't continue to invest in our people and culture as a top priority.

I have been working at Sailthru full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Sailthru has experienced a lot of change over the last 6 months, but all for the benefit, growth and scale of the organization. The new leadership has demonstrated a recommitment to alignment, ensuring that all functions and employees understand how their work is tied to the company's success. The new CEO is passionate about serving the customers, which will serve well in the Enterprise SaaS model. Employee retention...

    Cons

Growing pains remain. We still have an imperfect track record in Sales, and still experience a hangover from old technical challenges. The workspace is tight, and conference rooms are difficult to come by. The company is also still trying to figure out how to maintain the startup vibe with scale and growth.

    Advice to Management

The employee base is very smart. Remove obstacles and let them do their work.

I have been working at Sailthru full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The current leadership knows what's going on. They get it. And they're making huge strides into maturing Sailthru as a company to make it a staple in the marketing software community.

    Cons

Growing pains. Making sure all the teams are aligned on goals.

    Advice to Management

    Keep the momentum going.

I have been working at Sailthru full-time

    Pros

The Engineering organization has gone through some major shifts over the past year but things have finally stabilized and the team is really jelling. Things aren't perfect. There are tons of engineering challenges waiting to be solved and this makes for a great environment to test yourself and gain experience. No one is going to ask you to stay overtime but many people choose to because they want to. This is not true...

    Cons

The organization has grown quite a bit and politics are inevitable. Things have become much more structured which is both good and bad. Bad in that there is more red tape but good because it's needed for an organization of our size to run properly and be taken seriously. You will have to work with a lot of legacy code and that can be quite painful. Compensation could be better.

    Advice to Management

Your efforts thus far have not gone unnoticed. Keep experimenting and optimizing our processes. Look into ways to reward good work and incrementally increase compensation that's not necessary hinged to a promotion.

I worked at Sailthru full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Sailthru has some most amazing people that I've worked with. Their product is very unique and it well positioned in the market place. There were massive improvements in both performance and stability in the product while I was there. The company no longer tolerates mediocre engineers and wants to hire the best candidates possible. Cons

The company is currently in a position where politics in becoming inevitable, this is more a function of the company size and not with Sailthru in particular. However I did feel that having five layers in a company of two hundred people was not that efficient.

    Advice to Management

Flatten the organization more, hire better people slower and reward the right people.

I have been working at Sailthru

    Pros

Ive worked everywhere from an MNC to a 20 person startup. Sailthru is definitely the best place Ive worked at. Its a challenging and satisfying work environment. You work with highly motivated and smart colleagues. There is absolute transperancy, and great perks.

    Cons

Its not the place to be if you are looking for a 9-5 Monday - Friday job. You work hard. But it is rewarding.
