I worked at Saint Agnes Medical Center (CA) full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

At SAMC I felt like I made a decent salary. The health benefits were okay as well. However the cafeteria food was the best part of working there.

    Cons

Be prepared to feel like you're in high school again with the internal politics and those who will point the finger in order to save themselves. Also, don't make the mistake of thinking that your boss has your back - even if that is what they tell you.

    Advice to Management

Stop the old habits. Bring quality back to the employees and it will translate to the patients. Just because someone makes an accusation does not make it true. Be transparent to your employees. I hope to believe in your hospital and various clinics again one day, today I would rather travel far out of my way.

Always short staffed so you're expected to do double the work in the same amount of time
    Never recognized for working hard
Equipment is old and does not always work

    Advice to Management

Listen to the complains of the your employees and work to amend problems

I worked at Saint Agnes Medical Center (CA) full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Mostly nice co-workers, good food in the cafeteria.

    Cons

They treat their "staff" (non-nursing) very poorly. Looong hours and low pay. The benefits are not the greatest either. The "C-Suite" group (both execs and staff) are very cliquish and full of themselves (with a few exceptions). The CEO is very judgmental and very rude when you are on a 1:1 with her. If she is with a group she acts very professional, but she is anything but when she is speaking with you out of the eye of everyone else. This place has several guiding principals posted around the hospital and as your screen saver, but they do not actually live them. If you are on their good side they let you slide on a lot of things; however, if you are not they call you on every little thing. I would not wish this place on anyone!!

    Advice to Management

Live your posted principals and stop paying it lip service!

I worked at Saint Agnes Medical Center (CA) full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Other than Kaiser, generally the best pay and benefits in the Fresno area. At one time, it was a great place to work for, and it's still kept up nicely, they put a lot of money into appearance.

    Cons

The management style is very much of a you're either "in" or "out" of favor. Guess who gets cut first? They've been making cuts on top of cuts since about 2008. Staffing is very thin on the ground, though there still seems to be a lot of positions for supervisor, manager, lead, or whatever other name they have for Chief, rather than Native American. Suck-ups will do quite well for themselves there. If you're an informant for the boss, you're golden.

    Advice to Management

Consolidate about 1/3 of the management/leadership positions and hire some more actual tip-of-the-spear workers!

    Pros

The company really values good employees, they try to offer them incentives to keep them happy. The organization is a great place to work, and once you are in you will have a good job for awhile.

    Cons

They seem to make employees take a lot of metrics but do not follow up on what the results were, or what they will do with the results, so people dislike taking surveys.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing it seems to be working, people stay in their jobs forever... could be better at employee engagment
