I have been working at Saint Alphonsus Health System part-time

    Pros

Great collaboration between doctors, nurses, and ancillary staff. There is great patient satisfaction.

    Cons

There is no policy to give monetary incentive to CNA's who come in extra when the floors are understaffed. You receive the same pay as you would if you were scheduled already for that day.

    Pros

Healthcare isn't going anywhere and job was solid. Loved my supervisor. Benefits at the time were good.

    Cons

Upper management was a revolving situation and they didn't have time to invest in their team.

I have been working at Saint Alphonsus Health System part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, great pay and countless opportunities for career growth! They will help with the cost of continuing education and want to see their employees well taken care of!

    Cons

Employee parking could improve but otherwise I have no other complaints!

    Advice to Management

Improve employee parking and show more appreciation for the employees who come to work every day to help make the hospital function. Too often we see employees leave due to these issues.

  4. "Manager"

I worked at Saint Alphonsus Health System full-time

    Pros

Staff are dedicated to a shared mission of helping and healing.

    Cons

Work-life balance is difficult to manage due to the critical need to be more lean, efficient and effective.

    Advice to Management

Simplifying through the complexity of changes is a challenge, but the continual acknowledgment or acceptance of "you must do more with less" may cause greater long-term implications.

I worked at Saint Alphonsus Health System full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The pay was generous. Co-workers were awesome.
Office Manager was supportive of clinical staff.
Central location was nice. Nice benefit package.

    Cons

I was happily employed there until 3 months later, they tried to change my job description, and hours & days worked from what was agreed upon in the interview.

I also happened upon some documentation I had turned in previously, and discovered someone came along behind me & altered a physicians phone order I had written. I was beyond irate.

They received some negative press in the local paper in regards to their recent survey and it was all true in my experience there.

    Advice to Management

Be more proactive and less reactive.
Get feedback from your boots on the ground that are in the trenches to balance your perspective on operational problems.

I have been working at Saint Alphonsus Health System full-time

    Pros

I work with some great people too

    Cons

Management, Human Resource Department, Clergy, Volunteers

    Advice to Management

Pray for Forgiveness. It breaks my heart when I see the CNA's working so very hard and being consistently overlooked for incentive pay, among many other things. If anybody deserves incentive pay its our CNA's. They give us nurses incentive pay. The way I see it, either we all should be offered incentive pay or non of us should receive it. Did management sit around a table and decide it would be a great idea to disclude CNA's from incentive pay? Talk about textbook discrimination. Very, very disheartening. I was previously a CNA for several years so I know how hard they work. I think it is noteworthy to mention, every other company I worked for as a previous CNA showed their appreciation by offering incentive pay. This is the first company I have found that does not offer incentive pay to their CNA's. There is total disregard for our CNA's here at St Alphonsus and I just can't stand by anymore and be part of this toxic environment.
