    Pros

Strong mandate to integrate hi-tech healthcare solutions into rural community setting, organization is very committed to providing top notch patient care

    Cons

Too many opportunities to choose from and the organization is in the preliminary stages of building a governance structure about how to prioritize and funnel these initiatives

    Advice to Management

Focus on building an organization wide governance structure for capital initiatives so that only the most important ones are agreed to and launched

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Saint Charles Medical Center (Bend) full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

This facility will give you a chance without a doubt to show yours skills. Part of a four hospital health care system in beautiful Bend, OR.

    Cons

Not a state of the art hospital. They are the only horse in town. EMR is disliked by many although like any other can be learned to be used. Equipment and many of the units tend to be on the outdated side. Unionized with negotiations becoming more and more difficult and drawn out. Unfortunately morale in general is poor. The hospital is trying to get ride of charge and rapid response RN's in favor of 24/7 supervisors for each unit. This is not a popular dicision and has created much dissent among staff unfortunately.

    Advice to Management

Show you care for the people of this community, including the patients and the staff that work at your facility, and not just the bottom line. You take the lead in making this a great place to be treated and a fulfilling place to work.

    Pros

One of the more professional, consistant places to work in Bend
Many friendly and pleasant coworkers to interact with

    Cons

    Highly political environment
It's not WHAT you know, its WHO you know
Benefits, opportunity for advancement and overall satisfaction for employees has been seriously whittled down over the past few years, making this a "so-so" place to work

    Advice to Management

You built an empire that dominates the regional healthcare industry, but you've pushed this expansion simply to justify giving yourselves more prominent positions and bigger salaries. Stay true to the company's motto "in the spirit of love and compassion." Don't continue to abandon what used to make this a great place to work - your employees on the floors are the ones who make it happen, and you should support them better.
