    Pros

Opportunity to work with a global workgroup.

    Cons

Very political environment. Organization structure constantly changes and if you are not part of the in-group, you will be ignored.

    Advice to Management

Be more open and upfront with the team.

    Pros

Team spirit amongst staff reasonably strong and almost all want company to succeed. HQ environment pretty good for a US corporation of this size. Career opportunities provided, especially if you are willing to relocate.

    Cons

    Management is becoming increasingly top-down.
Once you have accepted a position, your annual salary will not keep pace with the market.

    Advice to Management

Remember your teams have valuable insights - ask them before making changes.

    Pros

Generally good people to work with. The training and development opportunities are there. The company as a whole is good but some individual plants have some serious management issues. Compensation is competitive.

    Cons

For a company this size the healthcare benefits are mediocre! The absolute worst healthcare benefits in my entire career across 5 different companies. That is why you are getting 1 star only.

Too much politics and back stabbing at all levels.

    Advice to Management

Set realistic and achievable goals given the available resources. Either spend some money and hire enough people to achieve these goals or put realistic expectations.

Conduct proper investigations and don't just listen to one or two of your favorite people who typically have hidden agenda.

    Pros

Good benefits, we have a pension which many companies have phased out, 401K, 11 holidays. Base pay is generally low but a decent bonus makes up for it. Y

    Cons

Being a French company, US based managers are under guidelines to give the same raises to every employees regardless of effort or performance thus this is a heaven for slackers but can be frustrating for high performers. Company hires many people over 60 and the average age of employees is over 50 so as a whole the employees are very resistant to change.

    Advice to Management

Hire young employees. If everyone gets the same raise regardless of performance or effort, the good employees will leave and we will end up with mostly slackers or low performers.

I worked at Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Many great learning opportunities across many different disciplines. The people are very friendly and welcoming.

    Cons

Company hired too few people for the workload. Many responsbilities were unfulfilled, resulting in a perpetually growing backlog of unfinished testing and documentation storage. In addition, inadequate inspection of known high-defect-rate material resulted in many company-wide problems that could have easily been avoided.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people, even in positions that aren't in direct value-added departments. Listen to employees when they voice honest concerns about the state and nature of their workload.

    Pros

They give you a lot of benefits and people are great to work with.

    Cons

Has a form operator you make bearing. The quality of material to make bearings is extremely poor. It jams the machines All the time. Too much expected from the operators quality control people. You basically on wheel trying to stay caught up. The pay is low for what you have to do. Yes, they are welling to give you overtime but only way to make money their. There no growth to move up in company. Been in the same position for 10 plus years not making anymore then some one who just started.

    Advice to Management

This for upper management increase pay have more people work. An operator cannot run three machines in differ aides of the plan at same time. He a thought there should be more as people so only lady doesn't have to run around from building to building. We are not robots cannot make the part, set up, check parts, park and move to shipping all at once. Don't tell people there a formal training problem for 6 months that involved qa and classroom time. There is not. The guys are the floor are the only training you get. They should get increase in pay for what they have to besides run their machines!

    Pros

Corporate responsibility, Reasonable benefits and salary, Gender diversity

    Cons

Management lacks focus, little opportunity for growth, lack of HR engagement

    Advice to Management

Take some effort and implement methodologies to identify your valuable resources and encourage them for growth. Promoting gender diversity is good, but it should not happen at the cost of everything else!
