I have been working at Saint-Gobain full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Awesome place to work. You can make your own career path if you want to. Multiple businesses in the same location provide ample opportunities for growth and diversity of experiences. Very collaborative culture and you can find great mentors. If you let the right people know what you want and are reasonably patient you can get opportunities that you are looking for. Work-life balance is good.

    Cons

The company is trying to do the right things to fix some issues it has in North America on Manufacturing issues and breaking down silos across its businesses.

I have been working at Saint-Gobain full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Innovative and open minded culture. Lot's of very smart people, get to work with others globally in both R&D and manufacturing. Good safety cultures and company core values. Clear progression of roles, typically good resources to accomplish projects. Lot's of community events and ways to get involved outside of work. Work life balance is overall good but fairly often travel or long hours will change that. Matching... 401k and pension plan.

    Cons

Too much administrative work needs to be done by each person. Benefits are not that great. They will tell you it is competitive with the industry but why settle for average? Vacation time starts at 2wks, should be three for people coming out of college/grad school. Salary is good at first but quickly stagnates due to low cost of living wages that often barely beat out inflation. Too much time spent presenting... results.

    Advice to Management

Let employees think outside of the box. Company structure, organization, and process does not really allow for abstract thinking. Not every person has to have the same exact qualities in the same position, be open to hiring not just diversity in background but diversity in methodology of thinking. More time working, less presenting. Continue to move away from rewarding employees based on tenure. Rewards should be... based on merit.

I have been working at Saint-Gobain

    Pros

I have been working a little over two months and the company has been treating me well. The work-life balance is great and I have plenty of work to keep my days busy. Hopefully my review stays great for the years to come.

    Cons

Management can sometimes be slow, but that comes with every large company since there's multiple hoops to go through in order to get things approved.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work and discover ways to speed up internal processes for approvals

    Pros

The job values and encourages creativity from its employees. Is accommodating and flexible, promoting a good work-life balance.

    Cons

Has often lacked stability. For example, projects have changed hands in management many times and longevity is often unknown.

I have been working at Saint-Gobain full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The work-life balance is great. They are very flexible when it comes to family time. I don't ever miss things at home. The work place is very respectful, and you get to make your own career path; they will work with you to get you to your fullest potential.

    Cons

If you are coming from a cut-throat American Corporate culture, it will take some adjustment. For example, the American practice of hire to fire doesn't happen at Saint-Gobain. So, if you need to hire 300 people to start a pilot, but only 50 to run it when things are good... you need a better plan.
