I worked at Saint Leo University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Faculty and staff were great to work with; adult students returning to finish degrees. Lots of variety in job description.

    Cons

The pay was not competitive, but it was the best job I ever had. You have to have a passion.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees taking calls at the front desk in "support" positions--they see and know what's going on and how things can be improved.

I worked at Saint Leo University full-time

    Pros

The campus is beautiful even though it is not centrally located to most people in the Tampa area. Some departments were very friendly and felt like a family.

    Cons

Depending on the location of your office, you might be very isolated from campus or other employees. You may also not have the tools and technology needed to do your job correctly. Requests for specific tools were denied. No clear goals or purpose behind the tasks that were required.

HR was slow to reply to concerns or didn't reply at all.

    Advice to Management

Provide the tools needed to do the job correctly. Invest in your employees.

I brought up a few ethical issues to management and they were ignored. Management should be an advocate for their employees.

Management lacked leadership abilities and did not foster a creative environment. Their lack of experience in their position made it difficult to work effectively.

I worked at Saint Leo University full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

NONE, except for the campus view

    Cons

If you are a candidate of assistant professor, try to avoid the university all the way! Full of disappointments!!!!

I worked at Saint Leo University full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people, relaxed atmosphere, good core values - during previous administration.

    Cons

New administration making too many missteps: i.e. limiting 403b options, new employees must wait for benefits, limiting health plan options. Enrollment is down and likely to continue to fall under current leadership, technology innovation is being driven by a non-technical group.

    Advice to Management

The Board needs to remove leadership associated with EDMC and Argosy U; they don't understand the non-profit arena and in 2 years have lost millions.

I worked at Saint Leo University full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits package, free lunch on first day...

    Cons

Extremely political organization with departments trying to undermine each other constantly. When I asked leadership about their vision and goals for the department, *LAUGHTER* was the response. On my 14th day with the organization, a new platform purchase was announced that would replace the platform I was hired to develop on.

    Advice to Management

Stop playing politics and start working together. Come up with a vision for the future and communicate it to your employees.

    Pros

I don't have anything good to say.

    Cons

Salary for skilled trades is a joke. I guess they never have heard that you get what you pay for. I was appalled at the salary that was offered. Don't even waste your time with an interview.

    Advice to Management

Look at what the average salary is across the board for every position.

I have been working at Saint Leo University full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good salary and benefits; many wonderful colleagues.

    Cons

Since the reorganization, campus leadership is (with one notable exception) nonexistent. The heroic efforts of dedicated adult center staff are daily undermined by ignorant, arrogant, uncaring, tyrannical, and incompetent campus management. Core values? The only value practiced at Saint Leo today is submission.

Note to Saint Leo Social Media who keeps saying "This is not how we usually operate" - this is exactly how Saint Leo operates.

    Advice to Management

Resign. Today. For the good of your souls and the entire campus community.

    Pros

Beautiful campus and benefits are good.

    Cons

Very little communication that had any truth to it. Confusing messages and management is out of touch with what is going on at the University.
