I worked at Saint Leo University full-time

    Pros

The campus is beautiful even though it is not centrally located to most people in the Tampa area. Some departments were very friendly and felt like a family.

    Cons

Depending on the location of your office, you might be very isolated from campus or other employees. You may also not have the tools and technology needed to do your job correctly. Requests for specific tools were denied. No clear goals or purpose behind the tasks that were required.

HR was slow to reply to concerns or didn't reply at all.

    Advice to Management

Provide the tools needed to do the job correctly. Invest in your employees.

I brought up a few ethical issues to management and they were ignored. Management should be an advocate for their employees.

Management lacked leadership abilities and did not foster a creative environment. Their lack of experience in their position made it difficult to work effectively.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Saint Leo University full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people, relaxed atmosphere, good core values - during previous administration.

    Cons

New administration making too many missteps: i.e. limiting 403b options, new employees must wait for benefits, limiting health plan options. Enrollment is down and likely to continue to fall under current leadership, technology innovation is being driven by a non-technical group.

    Advice to Management

The Board needs to remove leadership associated with EDMC and Argosy U; they don't understand the non-profit arena and in 2 years have lost millions.

I have been working at Saint Leo University full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits other than salary. Beautiful campus.

    Cons

The core values are just words on a wall. Financial crisis because of lack of accountability, poor management and zero leadership.

    History of nepotism.

Academics are not capable of running a business. Threats of job loss if numbers don't improve creates stressful environment.

Everything bad you have ever heard about academia can be seen here.

    Advice to Management

Even if you paid more, threats or implied threats make the environment intolerable. See very little flexibility of thought in managers which is why they are not leaders and are poor managers.

I have been working at Saint Leo University full-time

    Pros

    Tuition Remission
    Vacation time
    Holidays

    Cons

Run! The Channelside Office is completely mismanaged and the enrollment counselors are treated like a sub class at the university.

There is no room for promotion and ECs are not treated like other employees throughout the university. It is truly a call center that is completely focused on the numbers and not the students. The flirting and touching by married Undergraduate Associate Directors is disgusting and it goes on constantly.

The annual raise does not cover the increase in health benefits each year, so you actually earn less each year you are with the company.

    Advice to Management

Clean up your act and act with integrity. Shut down the rumor mills.
