    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Saint Leo University part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great people to work with, very friendly, great benefits. Campus is beautiful, food is decent, and everyone is willing to help each other out.

    Cons

Budget changes often and pay cuts across the board. Campus is located almost in the middle of nowhere with little housing in the area.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Saint Leo University part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Beautiful environment; genuine people to work with who are helpful and kind; great students who are bright, interested and respectful of staff and students.

    Cons

The pay is by far the worst in the state of FLORIDA and less than half of what was offered at another public university over ten years ago!

    Advice to Management

If possible, pay all Faculty the average for the state instead of the minimum you can get away with. Perhaps then, you will keep the best part time Faculty at your university because the SLU students deserve the best education money can buy at the tuition rates they are paying.

I have been working at Saint Leo University full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great work environment, the job is easy as far as what they expect from you. Make sure you enroll students. There is room for growth. You get to listen to music as you work. It's a calling center atmosphere. You get free education for you, your spouse and kids. Too bad I got this job after I completed my degree and have student loans. But it is a non profit so if you plan on staying for 10 years you can possibly qualify for public service student loan forgiveness.

    Cons

Depending on your AD you can have a great experience or a horrible micromanage experience. Luckily my AD is awesome and he is accommodating and works with you as long as you have the vacation/sick time to cover. Hours are long from 9a-6p. But weekends are off and a 4 hour overtime shift is optional so it's give and take. After a year of employment paid week off on Christmas, plus in general other paid holidays.

    Advice to Management

Not many complaints. I feel they really take great care of us!

I worked at Saint Leo University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great Benefits package with assistance in earning a degree and time off
    Very Family-Oriented
Extensive training to help overall job success

    Cons

Feels like people are promoted based on who they know, and not on overall work ethic or ability
Management at times felt reactive instead of proactive

    Advice to Management

Overall, management does an excellent job, but their strategy of not getting to know their employees makes many employees feel like they are not appreciated at the office. Try getting to know them so that overall motivation goes up.

    Pros

Great benefits. Beautiful campus. Plenty of great people.

    Cons

Some departments have toxic environments, but nothing that most people can't handle.

    Advice to Management

Campus Safety could be payed a little better. Holding regular meetings with all of the employees of each department would be helpful.

I worked at Saint Leo University full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

They have incredible benefits. They value their employees and treat them right. They give annual cost of living pay increases.

    Cons

Pay is a little low like in a lot of Higher Ed.
During 2016 they are going through a little slump so right now they aren't hiring as much as they used to and the positions they are hiring for are hourly instead of salaried.

I have been working at Saint Leo University full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

This university is growing at a high rate and there are many opportunities to be part of that growth on many levels. From the grounds crew to faculty and students, everyone is friendly and treat each other as family. Health and employee benefits are very competitive to the current market.

    Cons

Employee benefits are good but the low salaries deter good talent from being attracted to the university.

    Advice to Management

    Create stronger middle management teams
Create more competitive salaries based on required skills
