I recently heard an argument that men should earn higher incomes because they pay for more things in a relationship. Since when does what you do with your money outside of work impact what you earn at work? Can anyone explain the reasoning behind this? If that’s the case, then I should make more than another woman doing the same job with the same YOEs simply because I have a nicer home, take more vacations and shop at Saks instead of Marshalls? That sounds ludicrous to me.

    Pros

Some of the associates are nice. My manager did a good job on work life balance. People all over the world come to shop so, I’ve met a lot of different people.

    Cons

Passive-aggressiveness Moving anywhere within the company is a joke. It’s a draw vs commission which is also a joke Customers can also be rude To much competition I understand working off commission you need to be but this is unreasonable

    Pros

employee discount was a nice plus

    Cons

you have to apply for a Saks credit card to receive your discount. The draw vs. commission pay structure is a complete scam. If you're having a slow month you end up paying them money to work there. Ended up calling out of work at least twice a week during slow months to keep my goal and hours down. don't do it

    Pros

Good communication with managers and other staff, generally positive relationship with other style advisors, good opportunities to grown client book

    Cons

Draw vs. Commission should be illegal and is the sole reason I am searching for a new job. Unexplainably stressful and feels morally unjust, and will never accept another Dv.C job again.

Luxury department that pays there associates $2 over the minimum wage.

    Pros

Networking opportunities, good customers, and great product knowledge.

    Cons

Horrible coworkers with disgusting attitudes and are overly competitive who've been working at saks for 10+ years and think they can manage other associates and do whatever they please because they've been working for this company for so long. Bad management that show blatant favoritism to certain associates and implement rules on everyone else. Base pay is $10 an hour with draw vs commision. Traffic for this store is only decent 5 months out of the year otherwise it's horrible and you'll likely fall into a deficit unless you have an impeccable client book which most associates starting off in luxury retail don't have. This companies old mindset about retail and sales is stuck when they were in their prime. Training for this company is actually one of the worst i've ever seen. They stick you in a cold dark room and make you sit in front of a computer screen learning online modules. Once you finish the modules they stick you with an associate that's been working there for years. Some of these associates are terrible at training and are very impatient.

    Pros

    awesome people and decent clients

    Cons

the pay is a draw vs and the traffic is not there for you to make your draw. Management all over the place and micro manages, focused on what you’re wearing and not what is going on, on the floor
