Loved the people that worked there

    Cons

    Hated the patient work load

    Hire more cnas

I have been working at Salem Hospital full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great Managers on some units
    Great Benefits
    Decent pay for the area
Great Staff, were like family here
    Security has your back

    Cons

Only hospital in the city which contributes to long ER wait times and disgruntled patients.
Only level 2 trauma center for a wide area
Not enough recognition for CNA's such as awards
Has a tendency to value RN's over CNA's, sometimes giving them better incentives than CNA's.
CNA's get work dumped on them
Critical Units have large CNA to patient ratios.

    Advice to Management

Treat your CNA's and your RN's equally and have better staffing ratios for CNA's on Critical units.

I have been working at Salem Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great pay with consistent raising twice a year. Good benefits. Professional environment. They have Magnet recognition. Outside Portland probably the best hospital in Oregon.

    Cons

Because it's location (not a hospital in a big city) it can be challenging to attract and retain the best. The Oregon paid sick leave reduced the PTO with the least the same amount.

    Advice to Management

If possible add more predictability in scheduling.

I have been working at Salem Hospital part-time

    Pros

The hospital offers its employees competitive pay and leadership is great. A lot of the facilities are being upgraded as well right now.

    Cons

I wish that the benefits and Healthcare was less expensive for its employees and that they improved the amount of PTO one can accrew.

    Advice to Management

I would continue to look for ways to be more transparent in the leadership decision making and keep staff informed on changes sooner.

I worked at Salem Hospital part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Clean, professional, great benefits and pay. Management treated me like family. Raises were given fairly and in a timely manner.

    Cons

I was required to work some weekends and holidays-not in the job description. Other than that, I loved working there and can't think of any cons.

I have been working at Salem Hospital full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Awesome call-in pay, great health benefits compared to most jobs, although some hospitals have full health benefits free of charge of employees.

    Cons

A few people who have been working for a lot time are bitter, but not many are like this

I have been working at Salem Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Organization is great if you're in a good department. Human Resource has been helpful when it comes to poor management.

    Cons

Only highers medical staff for executive levels. If you have an MBA or an MHA, you won't get far in this company

    Advice to Management

It will be difficult to move up within the organization if you don't have clinical background. If you're looking for administration, I'd look elsewhere.

I worked at Salem Hospital full-time

    Pros

Salem Hospital is a great place to work, they really seem like they care about the employee and want them there.

    Cons

work/ life balance is some what difficult to manage here. there is high demand for constant availability. Seems like you are always on call

    Advice to Management

Take the time to listen to the employees. It is a very busy industry, but sometimes there is good information out there if you listen.

    Pros

Co workers and front line staff care for patients.

    Cons

Senior leadership. Poor coomunication to middle management and frontline staff
Frontline staff do not even know who senior leadership is

    Advice to Management

Patient centered care and servant leadership will retain your employees
