I have been working at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Flexi time is offered, new manager has started that seems fair and acts with integrity.

    Cons

Heavy handed management, bullying, treated like children, extremely poor HR support for employees, dire communication, lack of awareness shown by team leads and senior managers. Lots of sickness and referrals to occupational health - its a known problem.

    Advice to Management

Really, where do you start. There is a bullying culture at this trust and management feel they can treat employees how they wish. This is also recognised by the unions.

I worked at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust full-time

    Pros

Scope for exposure to a wide range of technologies - ideal for people at the early stages of their careers. Some good people work here - unfortunately, they in the main tend to be infantilised by an overbearing management style that runs the IT Department here like a Borstal.

    Cons

Inept management. Naked nepotism and a culture of cronyism that would make many a Banana republic blush. Managers who boss, rather than manage. An organisation with pretentions of acting like the private sector with none of the systems of rewards for or appreciation of good work and a burdensome blame culture. In short, this organisation offers all stick and no carrot. Unless you are part of the clique to who... all opportunities for progression go and even the most basic training requirements (over and above mandatory in-house training) are denied.

    Advice to Management

Try promoting to and hiring as managers people who have management skills not just people from a coterie of cronies you like. Try trusting and supporting your workforce. You might find they come to like or dare I say love working for you by choice rather feeling compelled to do so.
