I have been working at Sally Beauty full-time

    Pros

Learned a lot about Loss Prevention

    Cons

DM always thought the black girls were stealing
DM made promises to the manager to send help after first store manager walked out (never sent anyone to help us) it was only her and I.
DM wrote both manger and me up for not having the store in order after 4 updates came out all at once.
Store manager was fired and we never got any answers
DM was never really available when needed.
Store manager was under so much pressure she walked out
its like an on-going cycle at sally's for black girls

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME TRYING TO CHANGE THE MINDS OF PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT READY FOR CHANGE

    Advice to Management

STOP LYING LIKE YOU HAVE CAMERAS TO WATCH STORES WHEN U DONT HAVE CAMERAS TO WATCH CUSTOMERS FROM STEALING. STOP BEING CHEAP AND GET CAMERAS IN ALL YOUR LOCATIONS. YOU DO THIS IN LOW INCOME AREAS. THESE ASSOCIATES NEED MORE PROTECTION DO U REALLY CARE ABOUT YOUR PEOPLE..CAUSE IT DOESNT SHOW IN YOUR UPPER MANAGEMENT. THIS IS WHY YOUR TURNOVER RATE IS SO HIGH

The CONSTANT pressure to sell discount cards and warranties is horrible

I worked at Sally Beauty full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Only pro to working here was the discount I received since I am an esthetician I was able to purchase my supplies cheaper.

    Cons

Management is terrible, she was unfit for the position, didn’t even have a GED. I was the assistant manager and after 8 months I never received the pay raise I was supposed to receive for that. I quit because it just wasn’t worth the stress and long hours for minimal pay.

I worked at Sally Beauty (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    A few customers are pleasant

    Cons

Sallys induces fear, intimidation. Threatening, only negative treatment. New montage SellSellSell. Very high turnover. False image when hired as opposed to what you’re in for. Customers act as they are entitled and are rude. Management are only out for themselves. They will never change if they do they’re out.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees with respect and fairness and human.

I have been working at Sally Beauty full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Customers are friendly. The other employees are usually nice but some of them talk behind your back about you.

    Cons

Management is very mean. ESPECIALLY THE TERRITORY AND DISTRICT MANAGERS. They will yell at you and treat you like a little kid. They try to take advantage of you. They try to pay you as little as possible. They pay different employees in the SAME POSITION with the SAME CREDENTIALS DIFFERENT HOURLY RATES/ SALARIES.

    Advice to Management

Be fair and RESPECTFUL to your employees.

    Pros

Store closes early. Employees get good discount.

    Cons

Too much drama among employees. Manager not respectful to all employees, especially if they come from a different retail environment (women,s clothing). Company needs to have better rules regarding store keys. Paychecks don't arrive on payday.

Employees fighting over childish issues. Store key aren't given to all employees who open or close store. Employees don't get pay checks on payday.

    Advice to Management

Learn to treat employees better. Don't belittle ones with little hair knowledge; TEACH THEM.

I have been working at Sally Beauty part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Product samples are full size

    Cons

Just about everything at Sally Beauty is a con. I have never worked with more than three coworkers. If you apply for part time, plan on being a full time employee and then some. Kiss any life goodbye, as you will be harassed on your (one) day off about nonsense. You will have your job threatened for deleting items from a transaction, not selling enough items of the month, or even not contributing your own money to make sales goal. Which is funny, because once you're with the company, they will hand you manager responsibilities on a minimum wage budget. If you value your sanity, run, don't walk, away from Sally Beauty.

    Advice to Management

What management? We didn't have a manager for months.

    Pros

Working with Beauty products, that was the only thing good about working here. Also some associates were good but hardly stuck around.

    Cons

Manager stole stuff, blamed us and we got fired. Never enough employees. Was not trained properly so I could not do everything but I was left to open and/or close by myself!

    Advice to Management

Take your associate's comments about managers very seriously. We work with them on a day to day basis, we know how they really are. Good and bad.

    Opportunities to advance
    Discount at CosmoProf
    Employee discount
    Incentives
    Product knowledge
Knowing when things go on trend

    Cons

    Horrible pay
    Unable to have social life
    Most district managers play favorites
Career advancements stop at store manager level
Lack of support from upper management
    High school drama

    Advice to Management

When the company decided to let go of 200+ employees in February/March, they based their decisions on who they liked better rather than by their merits or their work. When this happened, morale took a big hit. You are overworking your district managers and not providing them with enough support. I would also like to mention that this company does not pay their employees well. It is ridiculous when someone who takes orders at In n Out makes more than a store manager who has been with the company 15+ years. We work so hard and try to go above and beyond for our superiors and our teams and we get treated like dirt. We are the ones on the front lines making or breaking your sales. Employees are not heard with this company. If you report someone, there is no investigation conducted. This is one giant popularity contest.

I have been working at Sally Beauty full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

You get free products and a 20% employee discount

    Cons

I've been working here over 10 years and the Realignment of the company has just put this company to shame. The pay should be better for the things they have everyone doing. Always under staffed and all they care about is making money not their employees.

    Advice to Management

    Treat your employees better
