I have been working at Sally Beauty part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Item of the month cash earnings Non strict dress code Fast or slow paced Employee discount

    Cons

The pay is not great and will not support you

    Advice to Management

Try to be more understanding with deadlines when at times there are 10 customers in the store with only one employee on the clock.

I have been working at Sally Beauty part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Fairly flexible scheduling Decent pay 30% discount (would sometimes go up to 40-50%) Easy dress code (black/white/grey, with most shoes allowed)

    Cons

-Regularly scheduled to work on days that I upfront said I couldn't work -Called in on days off -Petty, passive agressive coworkers -high individual sales quotas (usually around $800 per shift) -Long shifts, all standing -General lack of empathy among coworkers -Can't return anything you buy, even if it sucks because you will be ripped apart or your coworker will just flat out refuse to take it back -if you get within...

    Advice to Management

hire enough people that when someone calls out sick it doesn't completely throw the whole store off. don't schedule people to work days they said they cant (e.g. I work a second job and said at hiring I couldnt work wed/fri because of the second job and was still scheduled on those days. dont hire people that don't know how bleach works, unhappy customers with hair falling out of their head are not fun.

I worked at Sally Beauty full-time

    Pros

Casual dress code. Flex hours (for the most part). Café on site (although the food is questionable). Coworkers are friendly and helpful.

    Cons

The new CMO/GVP has no clue how to run a department and cannot take any criticism. He does not know how to lead a team or make high level decisions. The entire company is a decade or more late to online business and are now playing catch up. They just had a layoff in April (apparently this happens on a yearly basis) and the company is restructuring, so even if you go above and beyond to do your work, there is always...

    Advice to Management

Management training is needed (for all C-level and directors). Reward all hard working employees (pay them market value!). Have more team building activities.

I worked at Sally Beauty full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

great discount, many incentives, being part of a team, forming relationships with regular customers, training into the beauty industry and sales tactics, generally flexible schedules, easy dress code, always something to keep you busy

    Cons

it basically comes down to your leader, great leader = great experieces poor leader= poor results. It's retail, a lot to do, smaller staffs, alot of expectations

    Advice to Management

sometimes you need to go around middle management talk to your store managers/staff they are the face of the stores/ locations. Its not always what its made to seem like. There are alot of changes but need to look at your constants, be true to your roots

I worked at Sally Beauty full-time

    Pros

    - Casual Dress Code - Full Service Cafeteria - Friday Half Days

    Cons

I had to give a legitimate review after working at Sally for a few years, instead of bullet points. The company culture is seemingly casual, but it has transformed most recently into a very hierarchical environment where politics runs all decision making. The best ideas don't win in the marketplace of ideas, so the smartest people leave the company well before they have advancement opportunities (opting for advancement...

    Advice to Management

Train your employees, make their job descriptions clear, trust them to make more decisions, give them projects that will accelerate their career growth, listen to them, and fight back against the politics that are currently imploding the company within. The CEO Chris Brickman seems like a smart guy, but he's way too concerned with pleasing shareholders instead of the employees who actually build value. Retail at a...

I worked at Sally Beauty full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-Benefits were the best compared to most other companies these days -Relaxed dress code -Cafe in the building -Clean corporate office

    Cons

-Pay is much lower than similar jobs at other companies -Too much of "this is how it's always been done" -Very old technology, even though more money is being thrown at IT than any other dept -Marketing could be better (trying to grab some of the younger ULTA & Sephora crowd, but are still marketing, as cheaply as possibly, to an older generation) - Constant changes in management and management directives...

I have been working at Sally Beauty

    Pros

Good health benefits, free products sometimes, and not overly micromanaged, changing schedules, no dress code

    Cons

Everyone starts at the same pay i.e. they don't care if you have a degree, some people can be lazy on the phone and you pick up the slack, can be boring and repetitious

    Advice to Management

Praise more people when they do a great job, pay competitively, offer better raises, and learn to read
