I have been working at Sally Beauty full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Monthly freebies Relaxed/casual dress code Team environment I really hate seeing all of the negative comments about Sally’s because I almost didn’t accept the job because of it. I am so glad I gave it a chance because I absolutely LOVE this job so far! My boss is amazing and caring and helpful. Everyone wants nothing but to help you succeed! I don’t see it being stressful either so far everyday has been so good!

    Cons

Working weekends but it’s retail and you get at least one weekend off per month

I have been working at Sally Beauty full-time for more than a year

    Pros

you can wear whatever you want to wear there isn't a dress code and on Fridays you can wear athletic wear. The cafeteria is good they have several different stations to eat at, The store inside is pretty nice

    Cons

If you want peace of mind Sally Corporate isn't the place for you to work. Upper Management is always changing things without letting every department know that something is changed. Vice President's and directors do not have your back and will throw you under the bus to save their own selves even if they told you to do something. There is such a lack of communication

I have been working at Sally Beauty part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Fairly flexible scheduling Decent pay 30% discount (would sometimes go up to 40-50%) Easy dress code (black/white/grey, with most shoes allowed)

    Cons

-Regularly scheduled to work on days that I upfront said I couldn't work -Called in on days off -Petty, passive agressive coworkers -high individual sales quotas (usually around $800 per shift) -Long shifts, all standing -General lack of empathy among coworkers -Can't return anything you buy, even if it sucks because you will be ripped apart or your coworker will just flat out refuse to take it back -if you get within about $100 of the day's overall quota, you're expected to buy things to get the number up. honestly if the coworkers weren't so passive aggressive, this job would be tolerable

I worked at Sally Beauty full-time

    Pros

Casual dress code. Flex hours (for the most part). Café on site (although the food is questionable). Coworkers are friendly and helpful.

    Cons

The new CMO/GVP has no clue how to run a department and cannot take any criticism. He does not know how to lead a team or make high level decisions. The entire company is a decade or more late to online business and are now playing catch up. They just had a layoff in April (apparently this happens on a yearly basis) and the company is restructuring, so even if you go above and beyond to do your work, there is always a possibility that you will be on the list of people they cut.

    Pros

great discount, many incentives, being part of a team, forming relationships with regular customers, training into the beauty industry and sales tactics, generally flexible schedules, easy dress code, always something to keep you busy

    Cons

it basically comes down to your leader, great leader = great experieces poor leader= poor results. It's retail, a lot to do, smaller staffs, alot of expectations

"Politics and Myopic Thinking Are Destroying This Company"

I worked at Sally Beauty full-time

    Pros

    - Casual Dress Code - Full Service Cafeteria - Friday Half Days

    Cons

I had to give a legitimate review after working at Sally for a few years, instead of bullet points. The company culture is seemingly casual, but it has transformed most recently into a very hierarchical environment where politics runs all decision making. The best ideas don't win in the marketplace of ideas, so the smartest people leave the company well before they have advancement opportunities (opting for advancement with a new company once they see what Sally is all about). The only people who are actually happy and motivated are the Senior players and above. I have talked to several employees across departments and the morale is extremely low. In just this past year, I've seen about 30 people leave the company who were with the company less than 1 year in my department alone. There is essentially no on-the-job training and it is plagued with bad processes. There are way too many decision makers for every task, because heaven forbid, someone's ego gets crushed if 1 of 10 senior managers didn't approve the direction. Many people are eager to play the blame game when things go wrong and there is unfortunately quite a gossipy environment (it's a Beauty company, I guess that is to be expected). The worst thing though, is that there is no real structure for advancement. The people who tend to advance quickly are the same ones who perpetuate the politics, kissing up to senior management and never questioning broken processes. These people are not innovators and the company really suffers by having this way of rule.
