I have been working at Saltgrass Steakhouse full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Saltgrass has a good price point, not too high to get snotty clientele, but not too low to get super cheap people.
The wait system Saltgrass uses works very well and builds a teamwork culture.
The trainers are extremely helpful and knowledgable, they help everyone succeed.
Management is very open and will help you in any way possible.

    Cons

Management turnover can cause a great store to turn south.
Management can be clueless and can hurt morale.
The best managers will get transferred away to another store to advance their position. Similar to a minor league baseball team, you never get to keep the great ones.

    Advice to Management

Promote management from within, these candidates already know the company culture and the expectations of Saltgrass. Outside hires can be great but there is a large learning curve.

I have been working at Saltgrass Steakhouse part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    friendly staff
    plenty of managers
    awesome discount
*I honestly tried my best to find other pros but there really aren't any

    Cons

management often disagrees with each other
    poor training
they don't fix anything that breaks
    the good managers always leave
managers write you up for missing work even if its an emergency
they schedule you for hours you can't work
they don't pay enough to afford to eat there even on the discount

    Advice to Management

Care about your employees. A happy staff equals more customers, better work efficiency, and an overall better restaurant. Also if you don't protect your employees, and let your customers do whatever they want they will not only disrespect the staff but disrespect the establishment as a whole. If you want to be respected and treated as a high class establishment, act like one.

I worked at Saltgrass Steakhouse part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Don't get me wrong, I loved serving here & everything was absolutely great. The training was rigorous but the organization, teamwork, tips, & coworkers are all awesome! The sidework isn't hard. I really wish I didn't have to quit but the cons just left me speechless.

    Cons

First they give you a permanent schedule when you start. & It is next to impossible to change. That wasn't my problem though. My problem was that they do NOT allow you to request off EVER. They say if you want a day off you have to get that shift covered yourself. But here's the catch, if there are any "House Shifts" available for that night, you have to get THOSE covered before you get your shift covered!! So if there are two house shifts you have to get THREE people to work your shift for you!!! Not to mention that you usually have to pay each person to work it. & that's just one shift. I have a wedding coming up & a honeymoon & bridal showers & they had the nerve to tell me that I had to find people to cover ALL of those shifts that I'll be missing. Are you kidding me? I have enough stress w my wedding! Needless to say, I will no longer be working for such an unreasonable insensitive company. I just wish I knew this is how they did things before I applied. Hope this was insightful

    Advice to Management

Stop being lazy and let your employees request off. It would give us the chance to actually have a life.

I have been working at Saltgrass Steakhouse part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work independently and can potentially make good money.

    Cons

-Management is very tunnel visioned on their bonuses and not the quality of the workplace
-Will easily trade LSC sales over Customer Voice (customer service scores)
    -Unequal treatment (favoritism)
-High ranking managers sexually harassing, verbally abusive, and selectively bias towards employees.
-Would talk about guest and profile them based on stereotypes.

    Advice to Management

Concentrate on Customer Service and be able to teach a culture about caring for guest. It is very shameful that those who are chosen to represent a brand only act in self-interest and carry themselves as unprofessional employees.

I worked at Saltgrass Steakhouse (More than a year)

    Pros

You will learn to work with a team, and will find yourself becoming a leader the longer you work there

Positive attitude, team mentality instilled in you even in training

Good system for trading shifts to get time off

    Cons

Tough hours, can be tough work, tough to deal with impossible customers.

    Advice to Management

Each employee responds differently to different forms of correction. Some need encouragin constructive criticism and some need a tougher rebuttal.
