I have been working at Salvation Army full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Loyal to long term employees

    Cons

Leadership decisions are made by Salvation Army officers - these are ordained ministers who are given ranks and most of them do not have the credentials, life experience, and knowledge to make these decisions. This is very frustrating to employees who are not officers and who are knowledgeable and who want to get things done for the organization.

    Advice to Management

Trust your employees to help you make The Salvation Army a better Organization that can serve the communities around them.

I have been working at Salvation Army part-time

    Pros

I work here as a volunteer because they "Do the Most" for the money. We feed less fortunate people breakfast 3 days a week. Four of us do the preparing, serving and cleanup each time. I believe it is worthwhile.

    Cons

None. Things go smoothly and we do help the community.

I have been working at Salvation Army part-time

    Pros

Great clients and staff to work with. Job is one of the most laid back I've worked for in over 12 years.

    Cons

Minimal help from higher up staff. Will not hire anyone in full time because they don't want to pay benefits or health care.

    Advice to Management

Hire someone full time that would cut down on the turnover rate of employees.

I worked at Salvation Army full-time

    Pros

Slow pace and people are friendly.

    Cons

The Salvation Army is run by pastors who have no knowledge running a non-profit organization. Lots of politics and nothing gets done. Compensation is poor because resources are wasted

I worked at Salvation Army part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Easy job, sorting clothes, limited contact with customers, easy interview.

    Cons

High turnover at the location I was at. I did production and the people I worked with were very cliquish, mean, and made my whole experience stressful. Part time, only about 19 hours a week. If they did not like you they created a atmosphere that was hostile. My personal info was compromised by a jealous coworker because she felt I had too much confidence.

    Advice to Management

Stop letting great workers leave/quit because of workplace harassment and bullying.
