I have been working at Sam's Club full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, Flexible schedules, friendly staff.

    Cons

Too much workload, can be stressful, constant short staff, Managers will take the side of members over associates, low pay, low raises.

    Advice to Management

All departments are short staff making each associate do the work of 3 people and don't pay them enough to accommodate the hard work. Also the raises are a joke: Each person gets the same raise regardless if you're a hard worker or below average, pathetic.

I have been working at Sam's Club full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Sam's is a friendly and affordable retail store. Staff and management are always on hand for any of our members needs.

    Cons

The cons at Sam's Club for me are having to work the weekends. Also having to work the closing shifts and holidays. Full time employees are not allowed to have a set schedule only part timers.

    Advice to Management

I would advice management to give full timers a set schedule and place all the part timers around the full timer. Reason being is it would make scheduling so much easier.

I worked at Sam's Club part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible with school , plenty of works hours, free food, opportunities for movement within the company, great benefits for part time position.

    Cons

Constantly understaffed, poor communication with departments, some of the supervisors were not trained in membership so they would not know answers to our questions.

    Advice to Management

Makes sure COS' know how to work in all departments to save frustration. Make sure the schedule has more than one person to work throughout the day.

    Pros

Having an open availability makes getting hours fairly easy especially during the summer--even part-timers are getting up to 30 hours a week. And they're fairly flexible with school or second jobs from what I've been told.

    Cons

Store-level Management cares more about selling credit cards, upgrades, and placement of shopping carts on the front end than actual customer service or speeding up the transaction process. Supervisors and leads should be the standard for customer service practices but instead are the least poised and patient people in the store with little regard for wait times and waiting customers. Cashiers are only evaluated on ability to sell/push credits.

    Advice to Management

Hire more cashiers, actually put the member first like they always preach, and start using cashier assistants like Costco does.
