I have been working at Sam's Club part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good people, great pay, opportunities to move up in the store, good benefits enjoy the food and good prices including with employee discount

    Cons

Bad management, horrible work conditions for cart attendants, long closing shifts on sundays, long shifts otherwise pretty decent place to work.

    Advice to Management

Management should help out cart attendants more often and speak to people better throughout the store

I have been working at Sam's Club full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits within 90 days, the staff were incredible to work with (at least the ones I had the pleasure working with on the daily), some of the regular business members were kind and nice to work for.

    Cons

No overtime, no time a half for working holidays, often times overworked, and like in any retail position there are going to be bad customers. Working as a cashier can be very tough on your body as you stand on a cement floor all day and hunch over a register. If you work on the floor, you are usually constantly moving and doing something.

I have been working at Sam's Club part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Willing to train in any position that is available. Sam's Club is a great company to work for.

    Cons

If you have been with the company for more than 10 years and don't have a fulltime position they will definitely cut your hours to practically nothing to hold down expenses

I have been working at Sam's Club full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

From my experience as an employee, I've found very little truth to the whole stigma of Wal-mart and Sam Walden companies being dead end jobs that only people with no other choice come to work at. Maybe I've just been lucky, but my direct supervisor and the store manager are both level headed, and handle the stresses of work quite well.

    Cons

That said.... other employees tend to be the largest problem. There is very little work ethic and morale in all but a handful of the associates, communication breaks down very quickly and while everyone is openly friendly and helpful with the members, they can be downright hostile to each other.

We are also understaffed, which has made things difficult.

    Advice to Management

Communication is a priority. If every floor associate had a walkie or was otherwise capable of staying in the loop on current developments than any issues would be taken care of much more quickly.

The scheduling needs to be assigned to a person, or at least reviewed. The automated system spits out very odd times and won't maintain coverage.

I have been working at Sam's Club part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay is good for a first time job, co-workers were easy to get along with and the schedule was very flexible

    Cons

Lots of hard work while also having to sell members credit cards and upgrades. Movement was stagnant unless you were friends with the managers

    Advice to Management

Create more rewards for selling memberships and upgrades. Also provide an easier environment for promotions
