I worked at Sam's Club full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good Pay, Good training hours, get a free membership card

    Cons

Not great training so unless you learn quickly your in trouble, a lot of manual labor, they cycle through managers often which makes it harder for you if you need a set schedule

I worked at Sam's Club part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Paid better than most retail stores, met a lot of nice people

    Cons

Had a lot of infighting between employees and little groups. Lot of pressure to have customers get credit cards and membership upgrades they didn't need or want.

    Advice to Management

clean out two or three clicks, less pressure on cashiers and attendants to have members to upgrade membership dues and sign up for credit cards

I have been working at Sam's Club full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, Flexible schedules, friendly staff.

    Cons

Too much workload, can be stressful, constant short staff, Managers will take the side of members over associates, low pay, low raises.

    Advice to Management

All departments are short staff making each associate do the work of 3 people and don't pay them enough to accommodate the hard work. Also the raises are a joke: Each person gets the same raise regardless if you're a hard worker or below average, pathetic.

I have been working at Sam's Club full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Was fun when I first started. Now, not so much. Work from home when weather is bad.

    Cons

Too many changes in the 3 years that I have been there. Top out on my pay, insurance is expensive, no discount.

    Advice to Management

Find something that works and stick with it. Constant change does nothing to boost morale. Go back to provided performance raises.

I have been working at Sam's Club full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A very fun, active environment with many friendly faces (from the multiple Sam's Clubs I've been to.. some better than others)

Good starting pay (although with the new wages you'll start out pretty close to people that've been there a lot longer)

Good-enough health care, 401k and stock buying options with many employee discounts.

    Cons

Rather unchanging environment for a majority of people- unlesss you like jumping around from one basic position to another - freezer/cooler to produce, produce to grocery, etc.

Wages are now stuck at a mandatory 2% for EVERYONE. Why. But I've worked here for 15 years, surely I get more than the new casier? Nope. 2%. Hopefully this changes because it's downright ridiculous.

Don't expect much when it comes to moving up the corporate ladder- they take being in their management and team-leader positions very seriously and like to stay there when possible. I've seen the same managers for 4 years now and only one team lead change. He's been there three. Rather hard to move from where you are that way.

    Advice to Management

    Fix wages.

A lot of management (at least in my club) love to side-step confrontation with their employees- especially when it's problematic for them or other managers. (In my experience, of course.)

    Pros

Flexible scheduling, If you are a student or someone looking for something on the side to make extra money. This is a good place.

    Cons

Benefits are non-existence and there is time off is a joke. It is a bad place a career, unless you are management.

    Pros

Reliable as they always need help. There are a great number of areas that you can work and there is never a short supply for help.

    Cons

You have to close a lot and work weekends. The work to life balance is something to be less than desired.

    Advice to Management

    Need more Staffing
