    I worked at Samaritas part-time

    Pros

I worked in child welfare. Great, supportive work environment, very family friendly. The office I worked in was very supportive of having a flexible schedule and doing some work remotely. Supervisors were very supportive.

    Cons

Pay wasn't great, but was competitive for other private agencies. Otherwise no other cons that I experienced in my 2 1/2 years there.

    Advice to Management

Keep supporting flexible scheduled and remote work when possible.

I have been working at Samaritas full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Samaritas provides statewide support for the employee to be successful and the flexibility to impact the local community.

    Cons

Samaritas has made a commitment to streamline the stewardship roles, which has presented itself in changes in the operations. At times is feels like training never ends. But I have been around for 15 plus years so I have seen many changes over that time. So Training is a part of life.

    Advice to Management

Samaritas in a Management Agency role for contracted properties needs to be mindful of customer service to the locations they serve. Some times the corporate mindset does not fit perfectly in the relationship of agency verses owner. Flexibility and communication is key.

I have been working at Samaritas full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working with the seniors is great, like taking care of them. Will give bonus to work extra shift or lack of coverage.

    Cons

Starting pay is low considering work load. Staffing issues, pay is not enough for all the times you have to cover lack of employees, even with bonus. Might have to work double shift if not enough coverage for next shift. Responsible for care of 12 or more residents. Never get a chance to even use the free meal a week, no time to go and get it.

    Advice to Management

Starting pay should be higher, need to help change the negative attitudes of employees. Over cover by 1 staff, someone never shows for work so that staff that are working are not so stressed out.

I have been working at Samaritas full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Samaritas is its mission...serve others as an expression of the love of Christ.
I work on a team that brings together what the meaning of team is all about...there is no "I"

    Cons

Considering it's non-profit, the pay is lower than for profit. Growth opportunities for better ways to communicate.

I have been working at Samaritas full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

We work together as a team. We look out for and help one another. Most of all, I am happy working at a place whose mission I believe in.

    Cons

The pay is kind of low, but this is to be expected as we are nonprofit. Turnover is also a problem.

    Advice to Management

You have helped me out and have been very flexible in a way that has made me want to stay. Thank you! I'd just say continue to find ways to make staff feel appreciated (as I do) so they will want to stay. We need to have more staff committed and wanting to stay for the long-haul.
