    Advice to Management

Keep listening to your employees, Keep empowering them. Look for ways to improve compensation and benefits in a creative way (can be challenging due to being a non-profit)

I worked at Samaritas full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Direct management is attentive and helpful
    -Coworkers are friendly and helpful
    -PTO program is excellent
-Always hiring, due to incredibly high turnover!

    Cons

-Upper management is out of touch and only cares about money
    -Pay is a joke
-Cuts made left and right, upper management makes empty promises and pretends to care then gets back in their luxury vehicles to drive back to their cushy offices
-Hiring process is a joke, leaving departments short-staffed and overworked for months at a time.
-Benefits are expensive and not fantastic.
-No incentives for advancement or ongoing education
-Employee incentive program is impossible to obtain due to absurd requirements.
-Direct management very insensitive to mental health issues.
-We build up hundreds of hours of "flex time," the company's answer to working overtime, that will never be able to be used due to absurd demands.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Pay a living wage. Understand that we have lives outside of work and can't work consistently 60+ hours a week.

I worked at Samaritas full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great coworkers, coworkers are always available for assistance on a project, team is always united.

    Cons

ill-experienced and unknowledgeable management. They hire incompetent managers externally as opposed to internal employees who have been with the agency for 20+ years. This shows you that this company does not value its employees. There are no promotions and staff are frequently degraded and downgraded. Many employees feel as if they are not valued as employees and as a result they don't provide the employer with quality service. Samaritas used to be a great organization with great benefits however ever since the departure of Belmin, the agency has been going down hill.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your staffs needs and take their opinions into consideration, they are the ones on the front lines. Make staff feel appreciated and valued for their work instead of putting them down by hiring outsiders for positions that current employees would excel at.

Decent PTO and flex time/comp days

    Cons

Disorganized, overworks, and underpays employees - high turnover

    Advice to Management

Know what your staff's jobs actually entail and create a communication and procedural structure. And start paying skilled employees fair wages - overworking and underpaying is why there is so much turnover

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Samaritas (More than a year)

    Pros

Build great relationships with clients and making a impact in clients lives.

    Cons

Management doesn't know what they're doing. Youth specialist often bring up issues that are going on with the clients, only for it to be ignored. Staff have been verbally, physically, sexually, and emotionally abused many times and management did nothing. It wasn't until management began to feel the disrespect that they decided to "make and change" and determine that certain clients were not fit for the program. Management often pretends to be concerned with issues and start "planning" to fix them then once the fire has died down, management will once again ignore the issue. Even though the youth specialists had been telling them this information for a whole year! If you tell management something about the clients, you will get ignored but if one of the clients make an accusation about you, you will be fired, (even if the client is known for making up lies)

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and stop treating them like dirt. Don't let problems with clients get out of hand to decide to something about it.
