I have been working at Sammons Financial Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Casual office attire (jeans / shorts); short work day every Friday; flexibility of managers to allow time off on short notice; the workplace culture.

    Cons

Outsourcing of some of the work - trying to understand the dialect of the consultants; working around their schedule if they are off shore consultants.

    Advice to Management

    Continue to support associates.

I have been working at Sammons Financial Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company itself is amazing. Good pay and great health and retirement benefits. Close by parking at Brookview building is nice during winter months.

    Cons

Male/female ratio in that outpost building is so heavily white male that I only recommend it for women and minorities with thick skin (and dull sense of smell). Today it was announced that women will be forced to give up use of one of their restrooms. Now the men have 3 to choose from and women have 1!

    Advice to Management

Maybe try to make the female employees and other minorities at that location feel less ostracized somehow. Hire more women and people of color, or adjust the demographics of the Brookview location so we all feel more equal.

I have been working at Sammons Financial Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Half-day Fridays, ESOP ownership, hard-working and encouraging employees, positive work atmosphere, strong company culture, active in community, everyone welcomed me immediately to the team and welcomed me as one of their own

    Cons

Branches located in several states - this makes communication and collaboration a little more difficult across company

    Advice to Management

Keep being personable with your employees. It has really made a positive impact on my start here.

I have been working at Sammons Financial Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

A company that cares about their employees. They are always having events or recognizing team members. People are friendly and helpful which as a new person I appreciate. Working a little bit longer Monday through Thursday to get off work every Friday at 12:30 is awesome! That saves us from using pto for dr. appointments etc. Casual dress and atmosphere.

    Cons

None that I can think of. Sure every person have their days but its nice not to dread work.

I have been working at Sammons Financial Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Awesome culture, great benefits, a strong focus on community involvement, and a great place to learn new skills and grow in your profession.

    Cons

We run very lean which is good but at times it can be too lean. This is not uncommon in most organizations though.

    Advice to Management

Make it easier to convert contract positions to employees and improve the health insurance - it is expensive.

I have been working at Sammons Financial Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Friday afternoons off, great culture, highly engaged employees.

ESOP is a great feature for those that stick around. Most people do because it's a fun place to work for the most part.

    Cons

Poor technology, pressure to do more with less. Sometimes the expectations are unrealistic.

Some favoritism in management. It's not unusual as every company will have this. The pros really do outweigh the cons.

    Advice to Management

Invest in better technology- some improvements are in progress but very slow to implement.

Listen to employees when they say they are being spread too thin.

    Pros

Very good company to work for. Great co-workers, leadership, and culture.

    Cons

Limited opportunities for career growth. Generally stuck in the same position for years.

    Advice to Management

Ask your people what their career plans are and help them get there.
