I have been working at Sammons Financial Group full-time

    Pros

Sammons if one of the few firms that actually does what it says for values. The culture is truly something special . The benefits and ESOP are 2nd to none.

    Cons

To date I don't really have any cons.

I have been working at Sammons Financial Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The ESOP is an amazing benefit. My position allows for flexibility of remote work if needed and the hours are great.

    Cons

The actual pay is not the greatest

    Advice to Management

Reward the higher acheivers and don't coddle those who do not perform up to par.

    Pros

ESOP is a remarkable benefit. Good people, pay is great.

    Cons

No name recognition, it would be great if an effort was put forward to grow the brand through some sort of advertising.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

I worked at Sammons Financial Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Esop is the biggest but takes years to realize the impact. Lots of job opportunities to at least take you to 60k/year range if you have skills and drive. After that you might have to move on. Management is easy to work with and listens to issues. Sammons is starting to lose its "small company" feel which could be bad. Lots of overtime opportunities for non exempt employees and overall work life balance is great.

    Cons

Low starting salary even for having college degrees ($30k). Health care plans are expensive and keep getting worse for coverage offered.

    Advice to Management

I know Sammons continues to grow and improve but please don't turn it into a principal or wells Fargo. Sammons is truly a great company to work for if you put in the effort.

I have been working at Sammons Financial Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Smaller company so you are not talking to a different person every time you call to get assistance.

    Cons

They are very understaffed so your cases may take longer then usual to get moved through.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people especially in your policy change department.

I have been working at Sammons Financial Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company has a good culture, pays fairly well (including a bonus structure), has an ESOP and early out Fridays.

    Cons

They put a lot of effort into forcing you into the culture and a lot of the management structure is pretty vertical. It isn't as noticeable in line level positions, but you can see some of the specialty areas almost have more managers than employees.

I have been working at Sammons Financial Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

After working at large, public companies I wasn't sure what to expect - but it's been a refreshing change. The work culture is so positive, and leadership is intentional in making sure it's a great place to work. The ESOP is a fantastic benefit as well as Friday afternoon's off.

    Cons

None come to mind at this point!

    Advice to Management

Continue the intentional focus on the culture - it is working!

I have been working at Sammons Financial Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I feel truly blessed to work in a beautiful office building with an amazing culture of people. We all embrace Accountability, Openness, Respect, and Integrity as our core values. They dedicate a 2 day offsite training just to tap into "who you are" and "how you work" and "how can you grow". I enjoy the ability to be creative and constantly stay busy. Our core hours are 7:30-5 Mon-Thur and we are off at 12:30 on Fridays! No nights or weekends. I am rewarded with a competitive salary, benefits, and an ESOP retirement plan.

    Cons

Training programs are lacking and LIfe Insurance 101 would benefit everyone
