    Positive Outlook

I worked at Samsung Austin Semiconductor full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good money, so-so on work hours - was tending to become overbearing.

    Cons

Training plan / training expectations was non-existent. No core basic management skills were visibly apparent.

    Advice to Management

SAS is growing very fast - without a solid plan in place for new hires and current management, all I can foresee is constant fire fighting / finger pointing.

  3. "Not a bad place to work"

I have been working at Samsung Austin Semiconductor full-time

    Pros

Typical semiconductor fab/culture. Not a ban place to work if you end up with a good group.

    Cons

Nights, can be quite demanding given the current status of the site

    Pros

Benefits are great. Health Insurance, Salary, and Bonuses/Gifts are all a plus

    Cons

Very poor work-life balance. Extremely fast-paced. Poor systems. Culture prohibits many things from happening unlike U.S based companies.

I have been working at Samsung Austin Semiconductor full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good entry level job
    Great benefits
    Competitive pay
    Good people

    Cons

Being the little sister to Korea makes any real engineering solution a challenge
    Chance of shift work
Raises and promotions done mostly on time basis not performance
Not many transferable skills were learned since Samsung uses systems created "in house"

I worked at Samsung Austin Semiconductor full-time

    Pros

They make money, and pay well. However, their culture can be pretty negative in some groups. If you find yourself struggling to keep a positive outlook in your group, there is an internal system for changing departments.

    Cons

Some aspects of the company need to change. Such as the culture, which can be pretty negative.

I worked at Samsung Austin Semiconductor full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good construction experience in short time

    Cons

Too many politic. Work late. Excecise in the morning was a joke. Don't recommend to work more than a year. Cleaning is first priority if someone from came from Korea to site. Forceing worker to drink is not wise but many old Korean thinks differently

    Advice to Management

Learn what is goal of the company and utilize workers wisely. Wasting too many man powers on nothing and giving stupid order to spend a day is not a way of company should do.

I worked at Samsung Austin Semiconductor full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great salary and benefits. During my 3 years working there, felt my efforts and accomplishments were recognized by my managers, both in words and relative raise and bonuses.
Manufacturing job, so work environment is fast paced and always changing.
My fellow department engineers / techs were amazing, the people there are one of the best parts of the job.

    Cons

It's very much a Korean company with a plant in Texas. Work life heavily influenced by Korean management that overshadows American management. Influence is almost entirely negative, results in longer working hours and extra work.

    Cons

Poor management, focus on just getting things done fast not necessarily getting them done correct.

    Advice to Management

Not all people think about their employees and their skillset. Need to train them or either get rid of them.
