    Pros

good pay with benefits and quarterly bonuses

    Cons

Too many chiefs not enough Indians. They promote unqualified people for supervisory roles. These individuals have no clue how to deal with people but yet are promoted.

    Advice to Management

If hiring management positions, promote people with people skills.

I worked at Samsung Austin Semiconductor as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

SAS has great, highly-talented people. The site itself is great.

    Cons

Management restricts the amount of responsibilities given to employees, making it hard to take on more and move up. TONS of turnover, and recent changes in HR management are causing waves within the different departments regarding recruiting and Onboarding of new candidates.

    Advice to Management

Give your employees the right tools to be successful! Holding back work and responsibilities on hurts the business.

    Pros

    * Good work/life balance

    Cons

    * Slow and highly controlled career path

    Pros

Great health and PTO benefits. Work is fast paced and never get bored at work. Disc golf, soccer field, and gym on campus.

    Cons

Terrible management, poor work life balance, and over tasking competent employees. Dual management systems Korean and American that have poor communication.

    Advice to Management

Actually manage instead of just reporting to superiors. Fire employees that are underperforming. Permote high performing employees quicker.

I worked at Samsung Austin Semiconductor full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits are great. 401k matches upto 4% is ok, Bonus is good at times. But weighted to performance.

    Cons

Management likes to pit manufacturing and engineering against each other. If you can endure the Korean culture then you will be ok. Working conditions are environmentally controlled for all which is good. Fab ops so you will need to wear a smock in the Fab.

    Advice to Management

Manufacturing needs to not be so anal at the meetings. Its dog eat dog and the worst part about the job for all.

I have been working at Samsung Austin Semiconductor full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Work schedule is really great
Really good people to work with
Benefits are the best in the business
Robotics work is interesting and challenging

    Cons

If you want to grow in a company Samsung is not for you. The management doesn't really understand how to motivate their teams, and if you know how to talk the talk they will take that more into consideration than your actual work.
Promotions come very slowly, it's more about who you know than what you know
Once you are on a shift it is extremely difficult to get off

    Advice to Management

Learn how to lead your people not boss your people. Look at what you employees are doing and reassure but challenge them to go to new heights, do not limit their growth because Samsung Korea says so.
