I have been working at Samsung Electro-Mechanics full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Only good thing is the medical benefits.

    Cons

Very unprofessional management with very poor English.
There's no strong HR with experience. Korean dispatcher CFO and each department's managers do whatever they want and aren't aware of US labor laws.
All good opportunities goes to Korean expartriates, local US employees don't get any good chances, recognition, or rewards.
The office in Irvine is 100% Korean. There's no diversity.

    Pros

Very fancy office space in a nice location. Decent amenity in terms of coffee, drinks, snacks and instant noodles. Special gifts on holiday occasions.
    - Insurance package is decent
    - Highly secure working environment: better than a CIA office (multiple finger print scanned entries and lots of security cameras everywhere)
    - Very expensive overall office appearance: look is very important

    Cons

Whatever bad things you heard about this company are ALL TRUE then SOME!

Other than concurring other reviewers' comments and here are some more insights:
    - It is like a combination of high-school & zoo. Complete lack of professionalism from top to bottom
    - Management doesn't do what they say: open working environment means that they can spy on everyone more easily and keep more secrets from everyone else; innovation means copy others' designs/ideas;
    - No career advancement unless you are an obedient manager's pet following every order blindly without questioning
    - Can't believe anything you hear from the management
    - Constant threats from the management if you are on working VISA
    - Management drives away talented, hard-working and capable personnel, keep deceiful, incompetent and manipulative suck-ups
    - Make up any excuses to can you
    - Complete lack of technical competence for an engineering firm

    Advice to Management

Why aren't there any innovative and different ideas in the company? Because you only keep and promote people who keep telling you what you want to hear.

    Pros

Open for opportunities. Generous about making mistakes so staff members can learn something from it. Good healthcare, 401K match, easy going people

    Cons

Too many directors and VP. Strictly controlled by the HQ in Korea. If you are hired in the US, not from the HQ, very slim room to move up. Too many dispatchers controlling the local employees.
