I worked at Samsung Research America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Modern campus
    Decent benefits
    Diverse cafeteria fare

    Cons

Constant churn of short-term priorities and directions from Suwon
Oppressive levels of bureaucratic requirements from ex-pat CFO
No freedom to demonstrate why Silicon Valley R&D can be valuable to Samsung.
The disheartening tragedy of good people being undermined and leaving

    Advice to Management

There is no advice that will change the conflict in SRA. The only SRA management that has any influence are Korean ex-pats on assignment. And their instructions come from the East every day. Independence is what is needed to demonstrate the value and that will never happen.

I have been working at Samsung Research America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent potential, good medical, compensation is industry average, overall benefits is reasonable but not great

    Cons

Poor outlook, executive level has no understanding of projects but still tries to dictate, power struggles from undereducated project managers.

    Advice to Management

Be transparent, learn silicon valley ways, promote only those proven, hire within, verify people you are hiring are actually what they claim to be.

    Pros

    -Pay
    -Cutting edge projects

Unfortunately, there's nothing more to add.

    Cons

-"Tuition assistance and support of learning & development" is not a true benefit, was denied.
-"Flex Hours" is not a true benefit.
    - Managers distrusting
    - Work from home is constantly scrutinized even though prior to signing, it was presented as flexible.
    - No work reviews or feedback, except for negative comments.

I can completely relate to the other reviews that say they were "lied" to prior to joining the company. Working at SRA has completely deteriorated my quality of life. The excitement upon joining has all but left. Don't let the pay fool you, don't sell your soul for the money, live with dignity and not work here.

    Advice to Management

    -Provide feedback
    -Managers need better communication skills
