I have been working at Samsung Semiconductor Inc (US) full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Really great team, good work/life balance, interesting and challenging work, the company makes you feel valued and takes good care of their employees, a supervisor I trust and respect, and last but not least surprisingly really great food (breakfast, lunch, and dinner and in between as well). I really like working at Samsung - it truly is a great place to work.

    Cons

sometimes chains of communication between US-based teams and Korea-based teams are not efficient, can be too layered

    Pros

Free lunch, great campus amenities, good employee benefit

    Cons

Unnecessary politics, extreme micro-management, minimum to zero creativity encouraged unless you are upper management or have been here for more than 5 years, expected to work 24/7, all decisions come from Korea.Too much power given to Korean managers. Dishonest HR and Management practice, I have never seen such a bad HR practice in the USA.

I worked at Samsung Semiconductor Inc (US) full-time

    Pros

good products such as TV monitors and mobile phones

    Cons

    - negative environment for women - company run from Korea -- very much a Korean command control/military/bureaucratic and discriminatory environment - immature and inexperienced leadership - is not a Silicon Valley high caliber tech company that attracts top talent. Attracts C at best D rated talent. - highly recommend staying away from this company if you care about career trajectory -- not a good company to have on your resume.

    Pros

If you are Manager's friend, you are safe.

    Cons

Too much power given to managers. Dishonest HR and Management practice, I have never seen such a bad HR practice in US in my 15+ years career. 1. No 360 degree performance review. if you manager or manager's friend wants to screw you, you are screwed. Period. 2. Work Life Balance is for manager's friends, You can come at 11, play TT, take two hrs lunch break ,leave frequently from work for USPS, dentist, FedEx , doctor's visit. If you are not manager's buddy, you have to come every day and stay 9-6. Make sure WFH is not allowed, so file PTO instead. 3. Few managers just hire their friends, friend's friends and build a big network, others who are outside their network feels cornered , not engaged. 4. Make sure you DO NOT go to HR. Manager will surely screw you as a punishment.

I worked at Samsung Semiconductor Inc (US) full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They hire great people who are passionate about what they do. There’s really good food in the cafe and lots of perks, including free EV charging.

    Cons

The computer software, promotion criteria, and sexist attitudes are all archaic. Working here is like stepping back a decade in time. Women receive very little respect and aren’t seriously considered for promotion. They’d rather hire externally than develop people. Great coworkers kept leaving due to the lack of career opportunity and there’s no plan for their workload until a replacement is brought in.
