I have been working at San Diego Center for Children (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Best first job ever! I've worked in admin for the Center for over 4 years and the best part of my job is the staff. I work with some of the very best and most caring people. All the staff work as hard as they do because of the kids and community we're privileged to serve. I also really appreciate the culture - flexible, casual, fun, hard-working and dedicated.

    Cons

    No cons at this time.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing! This organization is heading in a wonderful direction and I'm excited to see what's to come in the future.

    Pros

Strong team, great supervision, community mental health setting, strengths based, diverse population, and family systems driven. The wrapworks program is committed to assisting families in fulfilling unmet needs to prevent youth from going into a higher level of care. Sdcc also encourages youth to engage with informal social supports within their community to ensure youth and families have sustainable support over time once services have ended.

    Advice to Management

Keep supporting and believing in your staff

I worked at San Diego Center for Children full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The mission and most employees are wonderful. In general, everyone cares about what is best for the kids and does so in a way that recognizes that caring for the employees is one of the best ways to ensure the kids are well cared for.

    Cons

There are definite issues with select admin-side directors, which was likely allowed under the constant respect politics of the former CEO. I understand this to still be the case for these select directors even under the new CEO, though I hear that the current CEO is less focused on his own ego that the former CEO. Poor advancement opportunities outside of admin departments.

    Advice to Management

Look at the performance of your directors; what are their outcomes? Also look at some of those team sizes on the admin side. Is the performance out matching the revenue cost?
