I have been working at San Manuel Casino full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Tribe takes great care of employees. Decent bonus structure as well.

    Cons

Applying for, and maintaining a gaming license can be a hassle. Most employees need to park in satellite parking lots and shuttle in.

    Advice to Management

My management has been great in all departments I have worked. Disclaimer, this isn't true for all departments at the casino, however.

I have been working at San Manuel Casino full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Big company, stable (their checks don't bounce)

    Cons

    Smoky environment
Very high expectations out of salary staff (very little interest in comp time for working in excess of your shifts or on your days off).
Lot of responsibility on the supervisors/managers, but pay in certain fields well below industry standard

    Advice to Management

Be ethical with your staff if you want them to be ethical with and for you. Salary teams know they have to work extra, but at a certain point (more than ten extra hours a week) it's exploitative. You give us seminars on Fraud/Theft Prevention, and one of the first areas that is covered is "Theft of Time." All of us who were required to attend the training on our days off, knowing we would receive no comp time for the day off you have stolen from us, could only nod our heads. Sure, it's a problem, just ask us. Only the entity stealing time from us is SMBMI.

I have been working at San Manuel Casino full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Active, really excellent benefits, fast paced, lots of growth and opportunities for advancement, absolutely AMAZING CEO Loren, good bonuses, company on the whole is on a very high upswing in general

    Cons

Physically draining, smoke EVERYWHERE, rude customers, very dirty, terribly under paid, high employee injury rate

    Advice to Management

Try actually listening to and taking care of you employees. Your turn over rate is disgusting because you don't provide competitive pay scales.

---TIPS, if you have your regulars here then you will get tipped or even if you're super nice to the people, it is very easy to get tipped here :) free money is always nice!

    Cons

Having to ride a shuttle down the street to work every day which is annoying cause you have to super arrive early,Pay rate is weak.. Costumers here are Mean ! you think that customer service sucks just wait till you see the people that you deal with here, you need a lot of patience, when i first started here i was a nice person but now i am a strong and mean person, the people love to be mean to san manuel staff because they are losing thousands of Dollars!! it aint our fault but ohh well.
TIP FACTOR sucks here! you get taxed up the !!! ,if you make a lot of tips or even if you have a bad day you're still getting taxed on your tips.!!

    Advice to Management

Theres a lot of favoritism here, its all about who you know here!!!

I have been working at San Manuel Casino (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits (for salaried employees are good), Employee Incentives (company picnics, prizes, giveaways), Bonus (yearly - but now depends on MBOs)

    Cons

Micromanagement (every little task is scrutinized), MBOs (because doing your job just isn't sufficient enough), Corporate-Like Structure (no more family-like environment, its all about making that money), Less Opportunities for Advancement (now we must compete with candidates all over the country - there is already little opportunity in the Inland Empire), Hours-Work Schedule (some have it worse than others), Job Security (don't like it - they'll drop you faster than a New York minute)

    Advice to Management

Even if I did give advice, Management wouldn't listen.
