I worked at SanDisk full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent salary and benefits. Just about average compared to other bay area companies.

    Cons

Very high level of politics. Extremely political and silo mentality. Honest and upright people will have tough time surviving in this company, let alone thrive.

I have been working at SanDisk full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good industry. Leaders in retail business. Company tries to create a good culture.

    Cons

Not much vision for the futures. Lags behind in catching up with the technology compared to the competitors. ASIC team is very weak.
The louder and aggressive you are, the higher you go.
Hard work is recognized only as you promote it more.
Not much career growth opportunities - stringent rules on educational benefits so much so you almost never get eligible for future studies.

I have been working at SanDisk full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    1) Free bagel and fruits on Friday
    2) Free Spa-water (whatever that means) during lunch
    3) Market rates on salaries when you start your job.
    4) Agile

    Cons

    1) Lack of management clarity is very evident. Programs keep changing or getting cancelled. People get fired and hired very fast
    2) Poor quality of HR team. The entire HR team should be revamped, they are cost driven and do not understand value of benefits. No paternity leave and no sick time off, this is 2015 not 90s. Other companies are offering unlimited vacations and SanDisk does not offer new Dad's time-off. People do not become parents every 6 months management. It is a 1-2 times during your entire employment when someone would become a Dad, give folks at least 2 weeks of free time-off.
    3) SanDisk is known for multiple hierarchy, they discovered the use of roman numerals to the best. Listen to this, we have Program Manager I, Program Manager II, ......up to Program Manager V before you are made a Sr. Program Manager.

  5. "This place is a joke!!"

I worked at SanDisk as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

If you like being taken advantage of then this is the company for you. They run lean for no reason which is irritating for a company worth between 14-16 billion dollars at any given time. I have worked at some bad places before but this place takes the cake.

Run for the hills before working for this company. NOT JOKING!

    Cons

Boss was stealing my ideas and presenting them in meetings,
Backed me into a bad corner when "negotiating" new contract terms, forced to take less than 56k for a IT program manager job as a contractor. Confronted my boss about all the atrocities he had been committing and he moved up his time table to have the FTE person take over my job
Complete lack of respect from my boss on all fronts, shows up late and leaves early to every meeting as if his time is more important than others.
Unknowingly trained a SanDisk employee so he could take over my role and steal all the hard work i put into developing this program.
Boss was strictly a PM guy who knew nothing of the technical side of the program.
Found out all my subordinates were being paid better than me the program manager,
    Unrealistic expectations,
    Unethical.
The IT Director in question is a farce and quite honestly in my two years there this is how EVERY SINGLE DEPARTMENT RUNS!! From IT security to the IT HelpDesk to IT Infrastructure to Networking to Special Projects, etc.
Employees are just zombies trained to do whatever they are told and no one questions anything.

    Advice to Management

As with all companies, stop with all the contractors, pay the people in america that are highly skilled to work here. You will get better results if you treat everyone the same. Contractors & FTE there is a noticeable difference, you could even call it discrimination. Stop low balling people, everyone knows what your market cap is and you can afford to pay people, even contractors. It seems as if 90% of management is bloated and not even needed especially considering the astronomical salaries they make.

I worked at SanDisk full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is in a great market space and has talented and friendly people to work with. The company has an opportunity to be one of the Silicon Valley success stories if streered correctly by upper management.

    Cons

In spite of the great market space the company is positioned in, the management does not seem to be focussed and tends to spread itself thin over too many and poorrly managed endeavors.

    Advice to Management

Do not flounder the opportunity and focus on things you can dliver on.
