    Pros

Austin office space was open and yet condensed enough that it was virtually impossible to not bump into a partner every week or so. Parking passes complimentary. Free coffee. The agency only had one main account for years - this sole client usually created a grind atmosphere, but a select few of the juniors could be funny in the trenches as a result. El Paso office people seemed quite nice in the rare cases you interacted...

    Cons

Vibe-wise, it felt like a call center mixed with a dystopian government office - lots of dull, gray cubes. Salaries were below regional average. Insurance was not as company-assisted as with other similarly sized agencies and was really quite poor. Traditionally, it was a landing spot for people who had to leave nearby larger agencies - and some hoped to return. Unfortunate impacts of that were second-hand nepotism and...

    Advice to Management

Probably too late now, but anonymous Glassdoor comment posts (including those involving competing agencies) and obsequious tweets did not get you to where you say you wanted to go. It would have taken hard work. Should have examined and determined who among leadership actually contributed and tried to move things forward and jettisoned the rest. Best wishes for all of the employees who lost their jobs - here’s hoping...

    Pros

There were some great people who worked for the company but they tended to run off the best of the best.

    Cons

Didn't know what it wanted to be (multicultural or general market). Alienated great workers. Horrible upper management. Management didn't know how to grow young talent. Partners didn't know what they were doing. Couldn't get new business so changed the business model to cover this up. No one knew what the new business model was or how to implement it successfully.

    Advice to Management

Since they ran the company into the ground, there's really nothing to add. They will be out of business within a year, I predict (at the very least the Austin office will close).

I have been working at Sanders\Wingo full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Culture is amazing, work-life balance is prioritized, lots of room to grow in the company with plenty of teaching/learning opportunities along the way, a genuine care for their employees, got to work on a global company. The people that work here either stay for a long time, or have a hard time saying goodbye. You wake up and look forward to work every morning and your coworkers are like your family.

    Cons

Client structure (having one big, traditional client and not many others).

    Advice to Management

Keep being amazing, keep finding new, multicultural perspectives to work here. Keep being genuine. Do not lose sight of the company's values, and everything will always work itself out.

    Pros

Very family-oriented company. It was nice working with a tight-knit bunch of individuals that really seemed to care about the company and their respective role. Would highly recommend to anyone.

    Cons

As an intern, there wasn't a whole lot to complain about other than pay but that is to be expected. If you're looking for good experience in an even better environment, then this is the place.

    Advice to Management

I wouldn't recommend anything to management other than letting the role be more hands on. As an intern, you are left to the usual tasks that no one else wants to do. Such is life as an intern, however.

    Pros

The culture at S\W is one of the best and that is rare. The leadership is solid, well-versed and purposeful. One of the most valuable assets of the agency is it's people. From all backgrounds and experiences you will work along side people who will band together and get it done with one common goal: creating the best work possible. The agency is rooted in rich history and experienced in the African American and multicultural...

    Cons

The work and accounts can be exhausting. Having the largest account as a behemoth can be both good and bad. Good that it pays the bills and keeps the lights on, bad that too many eggs are in one basket. Having more diverse accounts the size of the main client will take this agency to the next level.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing. You have vision, you have the people, now aggressively go after the kind of work you'v always secretly admired or been jealous of. Chase after the work until everyone knows you're a force to be recognized.

    Pros

-If you're on the account side or in EP, everyone generally gets along and actually forms good friendships. -The partners genuinely cares about the well being of the employees. -Big name account -Good benefits -Making a name for themselves when it comes to Behavioral Science.

    Cons

-Communication issues between offices (so many projects require this collaboration). -Creative side seems to have really low morale. -Everything's riding on that one big account. -Low pay compared to averages for the market. -Not a lot of team building. -Non existent mentoring and coaching. -Culture? I don't think anybody knows what the culture is. There's this idea that they're all entrepreneurs, but other than...

    Advice to Management

Allow employees to review managers and help your employees with some team building. Also, implementing some kind of mentorship would be immensely helpful for new hires and give some structure to the whole process.

    Pros

The culture is good, the people genuine. Clients ranged from national fortune 500 companies to small local business. Good work environment. Overall good experience. Fun place to work.

    Cons

Management often took for granted the valued employee's that do exceptional work, put in long hours and work hard at what they do. Too often overlooked promoting from within and hire in the senior spots. Salaries were below national average. Raises were few and far between. Several years there were layoffs and pay cuts.

    Advice to Management

More praise for work well done. Promote from within rather than hire in. Management too top heavy. Clean out the bench warmers, taking up "valuable worker bee" space for real profitable growth expansion.
