I worked at Sandia National Laboratories full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Incredibly smart people
    - interesting projects
    - great work/life balance, with access to gyms and cafeterias while working.

    Advice to Management

Keep working to recruit more young engineers and analysts and continue to emphasize mentorship

I have been working at Sandia National Laboratories full-time

    Pros

My work is really interesting and meaningful. Additionally, the people in my organization are wonderful. We can accrue flex time.

    Cons

The lab is driven by mostly old white men (although the lab director is a woman) and antiquated beliefs about selection criteria (that higher GPAs equals higher job performance--not true), that people without STEM degrees cannot do research and development work (also untrue- this happens every day at the lab and other places throughout industry), and that human performance is not truly part of system performance (to my knowledge, humans will need to be included in the system until autonomous systems don't fail...). Women are discriminated against as are those who do not have STEM degrees.

    Advice to Management

Companies should evolve. Allow this evolution to occur or you will not be able to attract and retain younger generations of employees.
