Pros
Great opportunities for research and further training opportunities, good work life balance, great coworkers and resources, decent midsized city with great weather
Cons
Slow salary growth below industry standards and often people are compensated comparably for vastly different work Lots of politics Few job opportunities with reasonable salaries outside the lab Benefits are always getting reduced There is a bit of a racial bias towards certain ethnic groups

Pros
the pay is great for the area
Cons
there is a lot of turnover and people who end up sticking around get a lot of things dumped on them

Pros
The people are friendly and approachable
Cons
Too many projects at any one time
- Former Intern, less than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
Lots of great people who are willing to help you learn and grow in your career
Cons
Working on an active military base can be annoying
- Former Intern★★★★★
Pros
People are smart and nice
Cons
California is very expensive and just broke even
- Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
Decent pay. Chance to help national security
Cons
The best technical people can be overlooked in favor of flashy self-promoters or salespeople. Salary increases are dictated by people who have no incentive to do a good job of it.

Pros
Great reputation. Variety of work and able to work with some of the smartest people in the world.
Cons
Apparently HR dictates what your performance review should be graded as NOT your immediate manager. Egotistical colleagues, poor management.

Pros
people are smart and very friendly
Cons
there are a lot of rules to follow and remember .
- Current Employee, more than 3 years★★★★★
Pros
Sandia is a great place if you are looking to work at some of the greatest technical challenges and still want to have some time with your family. Projects are challenging and typically leading edge in the world. Depending on the department you are working in many industry contacts are possible. People are professional and self motivated but there is no culture of taking quantity of work as a sign for quality. I.e. results matter not how much time you spend in the office. Compensation is good in particular when taking into account the cost of living in Albuquerque.
Cons
Albuquerque has its nice aspects, the whether is pretty good you even got a nice winter with sometimes snow and the possibility to go skiing nearby, but its missing a nice downtown. You also have to take care that you live in the right corner, many schools are pretty bad.
- Current Employee, more than 10 years★★★★★
Pros
Meaningful work and top notch people mean that there is never angst about 'why am I doing this'. Most departments are good on work-life balance (and the corporate policies are as well.)
Cons
Management is not in control of our destiny, salaries, or benefits. Congress has been restricting these more and more and we are no longer paid better than industry, meaning getting the best people is getting harder every day.
