Cons
Slower moving than I would like... You're at the mercy of large bureaucratic organizations for certain authorizations and approvals, which take time considering everyone is paid by the hour. Salaries are so-so compared to coastal companies, but good compared to most places in the central US.

Pros
I had a 25-year career in another field before joining Sandia three years ago. I found support and camaraderie that I did not expect. My supervisor is the most supportive, encouraging person I have worked for. The atmosphere of the California campus is collaborative and calm. I work with some of the most intelligent people on the planet every day and am engaged and fascinated every day. I say this with no pretense: I have not had a negative experience or interaction yet. Sandia as a National Lab is incredibly thoughtful and supportive, something I did not expect to find at this stage in my life.
Cons
They need to share their story better, let people know the important work that goes on here.
- Current Employee, less than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
Lots of freedom to work on things that interest you. Can work virtual or in office. Diversity is a priority. Opportunities are abundant.
Cons
Pay is low for similar positions.
