I worked at Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The pay was good, my co-workers were great. Management was OK, but not the seasoned veterans you would want. Hours were generally consistent, and if you asked often some employees could get out of work an hour or two early if work was slightly slow.

    Cons

On the casino floor smoke is unavoidable. I get migraines, and in the long term the exposure contributed to my departure.

Some policies were a little rough during my time there, being a new casino they could model themselves after, but not produce a perfect copy of other company operations. Mostly good, with some inflexibility and a few policies which weren't great.

When I departed, there were a few too many dealers working the floor, and only so many hours. More dealers=better service, but it also dilutes the tip pool.

Hours are all over the place, but that's the nature of the beast.

    Advice to Management

Take a more active role with your employees on the front lines. Don't be afraid to change some policies in an attempt to make it a better place to work.

    Advice to Management

Separate smoking and non smoking, give supervisors more authority

I have been working at Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

great stepping stone if starting as a salaried employee. Excellent benefits

    Cons

disconnect between front line employees and day to day operations. Mid level management structure is inexperienced and disasters are prevented by the preparedness and experience of front line employees. Upper level management is out of step and under prepared to execute higher level forecasting, marketing, and retention strategies.

    Advice to Management

Take pride in what you do. Strive to not just adhere to company handbook, but to create a welcoming and open environment. Be as loyal to your employees as they are to you.
