    Pros

Easy job, you play games for 8 hours. Very easy to get promoted Great medical, dental, vision, retirement Most supervisors are awesome, some can let the power get to their head. Points system is pretty lenient, lose one point every month instead of a year. Free food Usually there is something special for the employees every month or so Coworkers are awesome, made some great friends Overall a fun environment

    Cons

Never had a scheduled weekend off in almost 3 years A lot of the dealers don't have people skills, so the toke rate isn't that great Highest grossing casino in PA, lowest paid dealers in PA... doesn't add up Lots of Chinese and tipping is "not part of their culture" You have to apply for a vacation day at least 3 months in advance, so don't plan on attending any birthday parties or doing anything spur of the moment. If your day off falls on a holiday, they make you work and don't pay you any extra or give you a different day off The business is all greed, they don't care about you as an individual, just the bottom line Weirdest hours to work. Everyone starts on swing (8p-4a) and you have no say in what days you want off. Almost impossible to find someone to switch a weekend day off with you. If you question anything, the answer is always "that's the nature of the business"

    Advice to Management

If everywhere else that is open 24hrs can allow their employees to have every other weekend off or at least one weekend a month, why can't a casino? If you pull someone's day off, give them either an extra day off that week, or a free flex day. Do more to promote that the dealers only make as much as a waitress, then maybe most people won't be so surprised to find out that the dealers work off of tips. Just because something is the industry norm, doesn't mean it cant' be changed. Try something new and then maybe there wouldn't be so much employee turnover.

I worked at Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Excellent health insurance, frequent breaks, free food, great co-workers, lots of opportunity to move up in company, President Brian Carr is a very genuine guy

    Cons

Smokey environment, have to work all weekends and holidays, swing shift (8pm-4am) mandatory when you first start, low pay as a dealer, management is terrible/just doesn’t care, and they let the Asian clientele run the place and treat the dealers terribly, the owner is cheap, and the free food in the cafeteria will give you food poisoning (the chicken is always raw, and watch out for the fish)

    Advice to Management

Don’t play favorites. Pay the dealers a higher base rate for their hard work and lack of tokes from baccarat. Clean the place up, friends have told me they think the Sands is the trashiest casino they’ve been to.

I worked at Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good benefits, free food, high intensity atmosphere

    Cons

whole HR department needs to be replaced. They don't care to ask any questions or try to keep good employees from leaving. They don't enforce anything they just "listen" to employees problems and never follow up. Because of "budget" food isn't that great, they will hire someone from the outside with no experience before hiring someone with years of experience within, they promote based on who they like versus experience and both HR and the pres let it happen. Someone with barely any experience can become a higher rank just based on because they are liked. They raise salaries on some departments but not others who have just as much responsibility on the floor.

    Advice to Management

Be more consistent as you claim to be, stop promoting based on who you like but rather based on experience. Communicate better and have more meetings with the departments.

I worked at Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Benefits and Free Food but the food was terrible. Paid lunch breaks. Uniform included and laundry service for dirty uniforms

    Cons

Definitely major favoritism. Pretty much if you have a lot of points and put you 2 week notice in and try to come back down the road, HR won't hire you back because you had points when you last worked there. So pretty much your 2 week notice is disregarded. BUT if you were a favorite, you will be hired back even if you were fired previously or had enough points for four Career Decision Days. Also you have to be a favorite to move up in the company. HR doesn't take employees hardwork in consideration, just the favorites. No bonuses or anything. Sands is doing a 93 million dollar expansion that isn't needed at all but they can't give their employees a decent bonus for hardwork. Pathetic and blinded by greed. Pay structure for employees are way too inbalanced. You have PAD and Stewarts making 10 an hour and they bust their butts and Security making 12 an hour and just stand there and check IDs all day. Oh if you are a restaurant employee, you get F**ked the most because you never get to work 40 hrs because you get cut everyday and lose your benefits and your flex pay is 7.25 an hour because you are tipped while hourly employees get their hourly pay when they take flex. Sands just needs to go and HR and Upper management need to go.

    Advice to Management

My advice is for MGM when they take over, get rid of the current Sands HR and Upper Management because if you don't, you will be a revolving door and you wont find decent people because the favorites are usually the ones screwing up
