I worked at Sanofi Genzyme full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The industry it serves. Stellar benefits & generous bonus program.

    Cons

The company has gotten way too big after the Sanofi acquisition of Genzyme. There have been way too many reorgs and layoffs. Legacy Genzyme employees have held on to managerial and senior positions with their claws even though they may not be qualified to embrace them. This has caused a lot of politics and territorial behavior that make collaboration a challenge. They are not so good with hiring new and young talent. Promotions are a challenge to get. You need to become friends with a certain group and belong to certain demographic to get promoted. Also salary increases are not very generous. If you are a trained professional in CBAP, Scrum master, PMP methodologies this will be a very boring place for you to work at.

    Advice to Management

Give new young talent a chance. You are full of outdated employees that are not up to par with current technology and best practices.

I have been working at Sanofi Genzyme full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There are lots of great people who are driven to help the company succeed.

    Cons

Positions are not back filled so it can be difficult to complete projects without the proper amount of resources.

    Pros

    Past the consent decree phase

    Cons

Lots of leaning out in the process, too little head count with too much added responsibilites

    Advice to Management

Backfill some positions people are getting frustrated with all the extra work and the little support and that why people are leaving

I worked at Sanofi Genzyme as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Each department has a different environment so its hard to gauge the pros/cons of the company as a whole at a junior level.

Great name to put on resume if you are fresh out of college.

strong GMP/GLP i've seen across departments

lots of people to learn from and are willing to teach you (again..depends on your department's environment)

    company after a good cause.

    Cons

hiring process was rough. didn't get onboarded properly and had lockouts on a lot of components I should of had access too. Took weeks to get my name in the system to get access to use computers and do trainings. This happened not only to me but other contractors i spoke to as well.

too many online trainings that are repetitive.

    Advice to Management

look to see which department has the highest employee turnover rates and figure out why some have higher turnover rates than others. There could be a problem in that department.

    Pros

    -Great healthcare benefits.
    -Awesome 401K
    -Generous vacation time

    Cons

-Veterans from Genzyme days are not progressing with change impeding new employees growth
    - A lot in management were put there because others left and have no managerial skills
    - Not much growth can be had here for new employees at lower levels
    - Promotions are hard to get
    - Pitiful raises

    Advice to Management

-Learn how to manage your employees
-Try to develop your people because there is a lot of attrition

I have been working at Sanofi Genzyme full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great colleagues. Company does a lot to really help the patients. Bonuses are decent, but can be difficult to maintain.

    Cons

Quotas are unrealistic, especially for rare disease. Most of it is out of your control. It was a great place to be several years ago, but is going downhill fast. Salaries are stagnant, and there aren't any opportunities to gain leadership skills/apprenticeships anymore. Micromanaging is increasing and just making your work pointless. Looking for other opportunities as every place offers much more in salary and stocks.

    Advice to Management

You're losing really talented to people to competition and similar companies. If you learn to retain and develop your good/motivated employees, the company could really take off again.

I worked at Sanofi Genzyme (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Close knit community remains post Sanofi acquisition, still some cool science happening there, located in nice area

    Cons

If you're looking for a cost of living raise don't work here, I got 5% over 4 years, they layoff parts of Genzyme every year, they won't lay off any legacy Sanofi employees, sometimes caustic and competitive work environment, they don't value loyalty. You are a number and if you've been there a long time and make a decent salary, you're a prime candidate for layoffs.

    Advice to Management

Value hard work and production over who makes how much and laziness.
