I have been working at Sanofi Genzyme full-time

    Pros

    David Meeker keeps employees motivated
    Great benefits
    Heart for the patients

    Cons

Poor management, so people are always fighting fires instead of working strategically
    Not enough workers
Expect to work long hours/off hours/on vacation

    Advice to Management

Appoint skilled, experienced and thoughtful leaders. Do not appoint people based on tenure. Not everyone is cut out to be a great leader

I worked at Sanofi Genzyme full-time

    Pros

The products and the patients are very rewarding. Old complex organizational structures are being streamlined.

    Cons

Work-life balance is poor in a 24/7 facility, layoffs through attrition, making any change to the system is challenging

I have been working at Sanofi Genzyme full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I live in Framingham, so the commute is short.
The turnover is high, so it's easy to move around within the company

    Cons

The company doesn't care about the turnover, despite being upwards of 50% in some departments
The pay is low compared to industry averages in the area
Management is terrible. They're focused on looking good to their managers and treat their people poorly
No cohesion or strategy. The five-year plan of today is not the five-year plan at the end of the week. The whole company seems to have the mentality of "build a fire today so we can look good putting it out tomorrow."

    Advice to Management

Get a plan, stick to it.
Your employees are people, treat them like it.

I worked at Sanofi Genzyme full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great culture, many opportunities! My manager was wonderful. Always helping me to advance my career. From what I saw, most managers were the same.

    Cons

My last year was actually 2008. At that time they were not very flexible on regarding working remotely, this is why I left. Otherwise, I would probably still be there.

    Advice to Management

Hopefully you have come around and adjusted your working remotely policies. If not, you really need to. It is not imperative to physically be in the office 5 days a week for most positions.

I worked at Sanofi Genzyme full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, rewarding culture and atmosphere. After Sanofi "merger" benefits improved, at the cost of the flexibility and small company feel

    Cons

Flexibility was lost after the merger and sanofi's tendency to layer reorganizations year after year, combined with continuous changes in their direction created a tense atmosphere and frustration. Increased bureaucracy slows thing down.

    Advice to Management

Start thinking and investing long-term again, built programs instead of buying them.
