Autonomy. Hire very smart people who are passionate about their jobs and the patients.

Not quick to promote. Seem to promote younger employees over more qualified tenured employees. No room for growth. Pay and benefits more advantageous to the French counterparts.

    Advice to Management

    Pay your employees more equitably.

I worked at Sanofi US full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Team was great, overall stability of the organization was good. Things were organized and if you couldn't find something, there was usually someone who knew where or who to go to. Work/life balance was pretty good, but depends on department/position.

    Cons

Overall compensation is on the low end of pharma. Was not able to attend professional conferences. Management was not open to additional educational opportunities. Product pipeline was disappointing with no exciting projects.

    Advice to Management

Enable employees to expand beyond their current role. Allow for professional development and that way, you will retain talent and make them even better.

    Pros

international pharmaceutical company with historical strengths in several broad areas: oncology, diabetes, immunology, neuro, rare diseases and cardiovascular disease. Is doing more collaborative work, driven by outsourcing of discovery and early research activities.

    Cons

troubles with patent expiries with too little too late to make up the difference means R&D is taking the brunt of cost cutting. whole divisions gutted and large communities impacted with much more expected through 2017. increasingly a French-centric company losing its international/transnational identity.

I worked at Sanofi US full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Global company with a lot of opportunities to do good. Some of the business units like Genzyme are one of the best places to work in Biotech.

    Cons

IT is a relationship based company with little to no objective and performance based growth. The old guard in France is very incapable of running the company. If you know what you are doing and if you are not French - stay away!

    Advice to Management

Clear out the dead weight. Have a clear and readable organization. Appreciate your teams. Empower your employees - most of the time they know the business more than you do. Being French is not a criterea for success!!!

I worked at Sanofi US full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and good opportunities along the way

    Cons

You can expect layoffs 2 or 3 times a year, without fail, corporate communication is awful, and it's nearly impossible to get anything done quickly because of the layers of red tape that they call "efficiencies." Sanofi is also notorious for not paying their vendors. It took me over a year to get a $300 vendor bill paid because the Finance team kept saying they never received any one of the numerous invoices said vendor repeatedly mailed into the Finance team over that year.

    Advice to Management

Pay your vendors. It's inexcusable for a company this large and with this many millions of dollars to avoid paying their vendors. And most importantly, your employees should not be how you balance the budget. Routine layoffs should not be how the company tries to right the inefficiencies of so many things this company does.
