    Pros

As is typical with a pharmaceutical sales job the salary is good with a full benefits package which includes life, health, 401K, and vacation time. The final week of the year is mandatory paid time off in addition.

    Cons

Highly political environment at the time with failed marketing which did not anticipate the delayed release of a new compound. Hundreds of reps were contracted in anticipation of the release, promises were not kept to them, and on the day before Christmas of the first year many received pink slips. There was also a disconnect between the home office and field teams which failed to recognize the changing healthcare environment. The HO made 11.5 face to face sales calls per day mandatory which lower management knew was not possible. Our call list had access to only 1/3 of our targets with 6 reps in the same geography covering 2 products. On one hand we were being instructed to lie on our call reports, while on the other we were told that doing so would result in immediate dismissal. If one suggested that they were not comfortable in that environment to lower management they were gone.

    Advice to Management

Live up to the integrity which you profess to exemplify. Also, develop real world selling solutions which address the ACO takeover of private offices and implementation of JCAHO standards which is closing offices to samples and sales reps.

    Advice to Management

    Steamline processes

    Pros

Team was great, overall stability of the organization was good. Things were organized and if you couldn't find something, there was usually someone who knew where or who to go to. Work/life balance was pretty good, but depends on department/position.

    Cons

Overall compensation is on the low end of pharma. Was not able to attend professional conferences. Management was not open to additional educational opportunities. Product pipeline was disappointing with no exciting projects.

    Advice to Management

Enable employees to expand beyond their current role. Allow for professional development and that way, you will retain talent and make them even better.

I worked at Sanofi US full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nothing really stands out as uniquely wonderful. Unfortunately it was just a paycheck. However my colleagues were great...most of them

    Cons

Calibration. They rank you against your peers and there can be only so many excellent reps. Follows a bell curve. Company is disorganized, they had layoffs two weeks after they hired me?! Why hire if they were having layoffs? Because they want to get rid of "dead weight". Which is stupid because instead if build a toxic culture of one upmanship and backstabbing and more concern over self-promotion then on selling. People who towed the company line and worked hard were laid off and the less intelligent and or less productive employees sailed through if they had an in with corporate. Granted this is definitely me painting with a broad stroke over my time at Santa fee, but constant layoffs and uncertainty does promote an unproductive toxic unhappy culture.

    Advice to Management

    See above.

    Pros

international pharmaceutical company with historical strengths in several broad areas: oncology, diabetes, immunology, neuro, rare diseases and cardiovascular disease. Is doing more collaborative work, driven by outsourcing of discovery and early research activities.

    Cons

troubles with patent expiries with too little too late to make up the difference means R&D is taking the brunt of cost cutting. whole divisions gutted and large communities impacted with much more expected through 2017. increasingly a French-centric company losing its international/transnational identity.
