I have been working at Sanoh America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

No a lot anymore. Used to be a good place to work. Good benefits overall. Some opportunities with size of company, but can be based on being compliant, not effective.

    Cons

Used to be a good culture years ago. Leadership at corporate level is very weak and HR function has become very inadequate compared to years ago, with no leadership, and no respect from the salaried or hourly employee base.

    Advice to Management

Decent place to work until Japan corporate became more involved several years ago. Good U.S. senior leadership left and were replaced with "yes-men". Change US leadership throughout corporate functions, especially HR and operations, then allow local management to make decisions and necessary change. Put a co-President in place and allow for them to have equal influence.

I worked at Sanoh America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Steady work and overtime due to completely mis managed production system, a lot of double time on sundays if you work the buddy system.
    -Constant change

    Cons

-If you don't suck up to the right people or question anything you will get a target on your back.
-Culture is very catty and back stabbing.
-No real clear chain of command everyone is barking orders but no direction on what to do.
    -New management is a joke.
-Pay is on the low side especially if you start as a temp.

    Advice to Management

Replace everyone from the top down and start over.

I worked at Sanoh America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Due to customer relationships there is a lot of job security. Size of organization allows for visibility. Decent locations of plant operations.

    Cons

Base pay is average at best for salaried and no incentive to perform (e.g. raises, promotions, bonuses are poor). Currently has very weak senior management. Parent company in Japan is very mismanaged and dysfunctional and ethics are questionable. Focus on profitability through cost control/reduction vs. improvement (equipment, talent, rewards) is frustrating and takes a toll on morale.

    Pros

Good pay and lots of OT

    Cons

Constant 48+ hour mandatory work weeks

    Advice to Management

Spend a little money now instead of a lot later to update and overhaul machinery.

I worked at Sanoh America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    The pay, and the benefits.

    Cons

Get looked over when you work hard.Day shift office workers have their favorites.

    Advice to Management

Instead of getting mad at people that work their butt off, actually pay attention to whats really going on. And help people that work everyday&over all the time to get on 1st shift.Especially if they're single parents.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Sanoh America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company has a few programs with potential to lead to greatness, but unfortunately too few and too little support. The company has an extraordinary core of dedicated workers that are hungry to see improvement and a return to the days when working there felt like being in a family

    Cons

Management at Mount Vernon lacks the desire or ability to pursue problems to the root cause and tends to look for blame rather than solutions. This has created an atmosphere of fear and disengagement that remains unaddressed. Over one third of the hourly workforce has left the company in the last nine months.

    Advice to Management

The Mount Vernon plant and the company (if applicable) needs to abandon the "Command and Control" approach to management and seek a path toward world class standards on at least a couple of metrics. Achieving this and sustaining it will require a management approach characterized by Commitment to empowering employees.

I have been working at Sanoh America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people, benefits, pay scale is at market value. Great 401, tuition assistance.

    Cons

Time off is tough, lots of demand for product, which is a good thing. But you need to use vacation time, to get a weekend.

    Advice to Management

More empathy, and commitment rather then just compliance. People just want to feel important and valued.
